- Job Title: Product Designer L4
Grade: L4
- Reporting to: Engineering Manager, Senior Engineering Manager, or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business, technical and product leads on the definition of business objectives, digital transformation and opportunities for competitive advantage to ensure the successful delivery of large, complex projects.
- Ensure the successful delivery of the user experience for the most complex cross functional work streams based on business objectives and user research.
- Apply user-centered design methods to frame and deliver the experience of the products we build to be useful, intuitive and enjoyable.
- Work closely with stakeholders and product owners, to provide insight into customer behavior, guide product focus and plan product features.
- Lead the discovery process and execute a variety of user research activities. Synthesize and communicate results of user research to make highly complex design and technical recommendations for impact.
- Proactively identify the need for new high quality complex multi-step user flows, wireframes, concepts and prototypes that impact multiple functions using various design tools.
- Direct, set and constantly review the UX standards and brand guidelines in the execution of visual and interaction design. Approve new standards as needed and acts as a thought leader for evolving style guides.
- Work collaboratively by sharing designs early and often, seeking constructive feedback and integrating feedback to improve the user experience.
- Take responsibility for the UX capabilities of the team, ensuring the whole team is continuously improving and learning together to strengthen and align their ideas with business goals and user needs.
- Lead and support team in implementing continuous improvement and actively seek to introduce new UX techniques.
- Continuously develop your skills and knowledge.
- Coach, mentor and provide feedback to team members and other designers.
- Share knowledge and expertise across your department, the wider organization or beyond through networks, events and communities of practice.
Essential Criteria
- A bachelor’s degree in Interactive Multimedia Design or an IT/Design related discipline;
Or: Currently hold relevant and valid industry recognised certifications
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a commercial environment providing UX leadership in technical projects designing full-service consumer and business applications.
- Mastery in at least one and expertise in two others of the following UX disciplines: User Research, Interaction Design, Services Design, Visual Design and/or Front-end development (HTML & CSS).
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative user research methods.
- Experience of being embedded in a software development team and influencing the adoption of a design first mindset.
- Experience working with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, HEAP, or similar.
- Experience in using graphic software packages and prototyping tools such as Adobe CC Suite, Sketch, Invision, or similar.
