PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure compliance to legislation, mine policies, standard rules and procedures in respect of safety issues in a designated area of responsibility
Minimum Qualifications And Requirements:
- Grade 12/NQF Level 4 is essential.
- COMSOC 1 & 2 or SAMTRAC Certificate would be advantageous
- Blasting Certificate or Trade Certificate is essential.
- National Diploma in either Safety, Occupational Health & Environment is essential.
- Postgraduate in Risk Management would be advantageous
- 3-5 years operational experience in SHE and/or Risk related Management is essential.
- Extensive knowledge & experience on multiple Risk Assessment Techniques: (CURA, BOW-TIE, etc.)
- Experience in HSE management systems (ISO14001, ISO45001)
- Valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate is essential
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Facilitate risk assessments (i.e. capturing and reviewing risk assessments) and generate risk assessment reports using CURA software and / or Sycromine
- Conduct a Critical Control analysis of all fatal and significant injuries / incidents and review all significant injuries and major incidents to determine if the risk profile is relevant.
- Scrutinize all section 11(5) reports for effectiveness of controls.
- Facilitate management of change
- Compliance monitoring
- Update Marula standards in terms of risk management
- Update and maintain Marula document management system in terms of risk management.
- Review, update and maintain Marula baseline risk assessments.
- Attend standard committee and ad-hoc meetings and consult with Health and Safety Committee on all aspects of risks to health and safety.
- Actively involved in drafting, monitoring and implementation of all mine standards
- Input and generate peer fatal risk review results.
- Conduct training sessions for line supervisors in accident / injury investigations and Risk Assessment techniques and methods.
