Job Description Summary
The Senior IT Project Manager will lead, oversee, and ensure successful delivery and management of critical university projects ranging from large-scale SaaS implementations to internal IT systems projects depending on the needs of the university. Candidates should be multifaceted and able to quickly come up to speed on Bentley systems and processes as required for each project.The ideal candidate has experience managing large, multi-departmental initiatives, brings a strategic mindset to each project, focuses on mobilizing diverse teams to achieve business results, and is a proven communicator with people at all levels of an organization.
Essential Duties
- Work with university project teams to ensure successful project delivery and realization of expected business benefits.
- In partnership with project leadership, define timeline, resourcing, scope, and deliverables for each project managed.
- Establish project governance to facilitate decision-making, issue escalation or resolution, and status communication, in partnership with project leadership.
- Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project lifecycle and confer with project staff to establish a work plan for project activities, iterations or phases.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, business analysts, and technical teams to collect, analyze, and document business requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and mapping to business value.
- Ensure clear communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into actionable project deliverables.
- In partnership with project leadership, arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel to the project team, including sourcing external consulting help when needed.
- Review contracts, Statements of Work, and work plans of external service providers or consultancies contracted to execute project as needed.
- Manage budgets, invoicing, tracking and reporting for all aspects of the project.
- Effectively lead and facilitate meetings with a variety of groups, including project teams, senior leadership, and external vendors
- Create and maintain project documentation.
- Establish and implement project communication plans.
- Contribute to defining and executing project change management strategy.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years of project management experience with 3+ years managing strategic projects.
- Ability to motivate, persuade and engage project teams to accomplish challenging goals and objectives.
- Ability to manage multiple demands and multiple projects of varying size and complexity at once.
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Proven track record communicating with all levels of stakeholders in IT and business.
Strong Analytical Skills.
- Exceptionally organized with reliable follow-through on tasks.
- Experience using different project methodologies (e.g., predictive, iterative, Agile frameworks), with the ability to assess when a particular methodology should be applied for greatest chance of project success.
- Proficiency in Smartsheet and/or similar project management tools.
- Ability to craft and deliver professional presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint and other tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education experience strongly preferred.
- Business analyst experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Agile frameworks and development lifecycles.
- Familiarity with AI tools and experience using AI to streamline project administration.
Work Environment
- Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work.
- This is a hybrid position based out of Bentley’s Waltham campus, with opportunity for remote work depending projects managed. Candidates must be able to drive to campus on a regular basis.
- Ability to travel around campus for meetings and other work-related events.
