Westpac New Zealand is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Screening Squad within the FinCrime function. This position carries significant leadership responsibilities, including acting as the second in command (2IC) to the Service Owner. The successful candidate will provide expert technical and domain guidance to both users and technical teams, lead technical projects, and play a pivotal role in the implementation and deployment of solutions that support the organisation’s commitment to operational excellence and security.
Ko tō mahi | What you’ll do
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of AML processes and a general understanding of rules and detection checks in the FinCrime space.
- Take responsibility for supporting the NetReveal application and all related initiatives in the pipeline.
- Provide technical leadership to engineers during deployments of release packages, disaster recoveries and updates.
- Show passion for ensuring good code quality and configuration consistency.
- Act as a key influencer to ensure technology upgrades are carried out within best practice guidelines.
- Ensure compliance and good risk behaviours are maintained.
- Record activities, log results and document technical activity undertaken.
- Take responsibility for supporting the NetReveal application and all related initiatives in the pipeline.

- At least 5 years’ experience in financial services, with a background in delivery projects.
- Experience with Kubernetes or similar containerisation technologies.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and act as a key influencer.
- Deep understanding of AML processes and general knowledge of rules and detection checks in the FinCrime space.
- Experience supporting applications such as NetReveal or similar.
- Strong commitment to code quality, configuration consistency and compliance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Agile mindset and ability to work collaboratively.
- Familiarity with financial crime and compliance solutions.
- Enhanced skills in SQL, Kafka or Dynatrace.
