       JOB PURPOSE

      The role of the Credit Analyst is to develop and review all pertinent credit and financial information for use by 

      Account Managers, Risk and Credit committees in making lending decisions on new and existing loans. The Credit            Analyst prepares summaries, presents facts, and offers recommendations concerning credit worthiness along with                directing loans through the due diligence and documentation process. 

       KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business

  • Provide input and feedback to Business Heads and Risk committees regarding credit decisions on specific transactions and credit risk assessments and analysis. 
  • Structuring credits in compliance with Group Credit and Procedural Manual/other Group Directives and other Policies. 
  • Review of credits under product programs for compliance with the terms and conditions as approved under the programs, including the review of offer letters for credits approved. 

Managerial/ Operational

  • Analyze routine and intricate loan origination packages in a manner that achieves the company’s profitability goals while staying within the company’s risk parameters. 
  • Review and analyze customer credit reports, credit scores, financial statements, historical trends, projections, management performance, capital structure, collateral, and cash flow to render appropriate credit decisions within the established policy guidelines. 
  • Prepare written credit memorandums for presentation and approval. 
  • Ensure credit compliance with local and legal regulatory requirement and the Group Credit Policy Manual. 
  • Liaise with relationship officers to follow up online excesses and overdue loans and ensure that they are paid within the approved SLA. 
  • Liaise with relationship officers and branch managers to coordinate Pipeline Reports, Achievement Reports, Activity Reports and Loan Monitoring Report. 
  • Assist in minimizing credit losses by ensuring credit facilities are structured in compliance with Group Credit and Procedural Manual, Other Group Credit Policies, Local/legal regulatory requirements, and monitoring of credits/projects. 
  • In liaison with the relationship officers and the credit Administration Unit, continuously monitor the portfolio risks to ensure an acceptable portfolio risk rating and provide back-office support to the relationship officers. 
  • Monitor expiry dates of credit facilities and alert relationship officers to collate information to ensure timely renewal of credit facilities and prepare monthly utilization reports for various risk sharing and guarantee schemes. 
  • Assist in preparation of offer letters, term sheets and related documents. 
  • Assist in the preparation of general business and economic research including the determination of Bank’s Target Market and in credit monitoring and collateral control activities including but not limited to, inventory analysis and verification. 
  • Monitor loans to ensure proper documentation and complete loan files are maintained, compliance with covenants and to keep Account Managers informed of trends on customer accounts. 
  • Provide Support to the Account Managers and perform any other tasks as assigned.

Relationship

  • Foster open dialogue and strong working relationships with the Account Managers, Risk Management, Potential Customers, Legal Department, and other groups to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. 
  • Attend customer meetings, calls and participate in conference calls when appropriate to obtain a better understanding of the nature of the business and the purpose of the credit request.
            JOB PROFILE

Experience & Qualifications

  • First Degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Economics, MBA in Accounting or Finance related fields  is a plus
  • Prior experience in a credit analysis/ finance/ accounting environment 
  • Professional Banking Certificate is added advantage.

  • Excellent writing skills 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts and pay attention to detail. 
  • Ability to use logical reasoning when interpreting facts and make objective observations, examinations, and recommendations. 
  • Solid interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to build and maintain professional relationships with originator and members. 
  • Ability to work well both independently and with others i.e., other credit analysts, relationship managers/LAMs, unit manager and other key stakeholders as and when necessary, on more complicated analysis assignments. 
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with multiple priorities.
