Catalyx is seeking an Automation Engineer / System Administrator to support our team’s daily operations and ongoing automation projects. This is a hybrid role combining elements of engineering automation, project coordination, and system administration. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, flexible, and ready to grow within a collaborative technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily automation and system operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of existing tools and infrastructure.
  • Assist in the design, deployment, and documentation of automation workflows to improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project execution, including tracking milestones, reporting progress, and managing documentation.
  • Maintain system configurations, user access controls, and perform routine system administration tasks.
  • Provide support for installation, setup, and maintenance of lab or IT systems (as applicable), excluding robotics, vision systems, or liquid handling platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the continuous optimization of internal systems and procedures.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to expand skill sets in automation and systems support.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–5 years of experience in automation, system administration, IT support, or related technical roles.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) or automation platforms is a plus.
  • Experience working with ticketing systems, documentation tools, and general project tracking platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and proactive mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
