Overview
Strategic Corporate Lending (“SCL”) drives optimal capital allocation across relationship lending, providing end to end ownership via diligent business selection at inception whilst driving ongoing accountability of revenue delivery and deep-dive client reviews. This mandate extends across the multinational, high-yield and mid-cap loan portfolios. The lending commitments are often a key component of the Bank’s client relationships and are typically issued to support the generation of franchise revenues booked by the product lines in the Corporate Bank (CB) and Investment Bank (IB) divisions.
Its risk function actively measures and manages the approval final hold positions down to pre-defined concentration risk thresholds across the EUR 100bn multinational corporate loan portfolio.
The Significant Risk Transfer platform engages with investors to drive cost-effective capital relief for a range of asset classes, reaching across the Corporate (CB), Investment (IB) and Private Bank divisions; additionally, its trading desk executes CDS hedging for the loan portfolios as well as O&A’s underwriting risk.

What You’Ll Do
- As the Portfolio Manager for the SCL Americas portfolio, you will be accountable for the strategic risk management of a portfolio with a notional value of ~EUR 50 billion. To underpin SCL’s first line risk ownership, you will be responsible for evaluating the risks associated with all new lending transactions, identifying any risk concerns and proposing appropriate mitigation strategies to ensure that the risk remains within acceptable limits / risk appetite
- You will be responsible for evaluating various de-risking options and drive the formulation of optimal de-risking strategies for new / refinanced transactions, ensuring alignment with the established threshold framework
- You will actively collaborate with SCL’s Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) team and the public side trader to ensure adherence to the agreed de-risking timelines for the SCL Americas portfolio. You will provide strategic oversight through regular reviews of the SCL Americas portfolio, proactively identifying early indicators of credit deterioration, providing credit views on names as part of the watchlist process, escalating material risk concerns, and leading the execution of risk mitigation strategies to minimize credit losses
- You will lead the strategic response to loan restructurings in close partnership with the Workout team in case of any default / restructuring situation — driving decisive actions to maximize recovery and fulfil our fiduciary responsibilities to SRT investors
- You will be responsible for managing all regular and ad-hoc internal and regulatory reporting obligations related to the SCL Americas portfolio, including high-priority deliverables tied to FRBNY requirements, and working with SCL’s regional head
- You will provide strategic guidance and inputs on the SCL Americas portfolio across key initiatives led by the Portfolio Management team, including threshold reviews, management of asset class limits and industry analysis
How You’Ll Lead
- You will lead cross-functional engagement with key stakeholders across SCL Governance, Credit Risk Management, Non-Financial Risk, Coverage, Finance, Compliance, Legal, and Workout, driving alignment and ensuring seamless coordination of all critical risk management activities for the SCL Americas portfolio
- You will collaborate closely with the SCL Regional Governance and Coverage teams to ensure effective management of the deal pipeline and support strong client relationships
- You will lead proactive engagement with the Credit Risk Management team, driving the identification and resolution of risk-related issues
Skills You’Ll Need
- A university degree in Banking, Finance or a closely related discipline
- Strong credit risk assessment capabilities and sound understanding of standard loan documentation
- Substantial experience (minimum of 10 years) in credit risk assessment, portfolio management or other closely related financial functions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong English language proficiency

Expectations
It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York, NY office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $170,000 to $296,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
