Job Summary:
The Senior Corporate Accountant and Reporting Specialist provides support for the analysis, planning, scheduling, and coordination of accounting and administrative duties to ensure timely completion of general accounting, monthly reconciliation, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Senior Corporate Accountant will also provide accounting system maintenance support for the general ledger accounting system and support control initiatives to insure an adequate level of control over accounting related activities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform day-to-accounting activities including posting journal entries, preparation of account analysis and reconciliations, provide accurate and timely billing invoices and other requirements as required by Tenaska Inc.
- Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-to-date financial statements for numerous operating companies: balance sheet, income statement, statement of members’ equity and statement of cash flows.
- Review budget-to-actual variance analysis for numerous departments, operating business units, and on a consolidated operating company basis. Summarize and report budget to actual variance analysis to senior management and project company equity partners.
- Compile cash flow analysis and projections to support liquidity recommendations to senior management and project company equity partners.
- Coordinate and assist with all aspects of annual budget preparation activities, third-party external audit engagement, and ad-hoc analysis for numerous operating companies.
- Coordinate, compile and submit required compliance certificates, quarterly and annual financial statements, and respond to inbound inquiries from financial institutions and/or rating agencies such as S&P, Moody’s etc. in conjunction with outstanding debt obligations and/or working capital credit facilities.
- Oversight and mentoring of junior accountant(s) and the ability to delegate work and responsibility to staff members or colleagues.
- Oversight to ensure accurate and timely payment processing.
- Assist finance department in the creation and on-going maintenance of financial models and cash flow projections to support acquisition and divestiture opportunities, project level debt, or project level re-financing opportunities.
- Assist in Microsoft Great Plains / Business Central general ledger software administration and maintenance activities including ledger set up, chart of accounts set up and security administration.
- Assist with master vendor file administration and controls.
- Assist with development of system controls for fraud prevention and ensuring data integrity.
- Predictable, reliable and dependable attendance is a requirement of the position.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5+ years’ experience
Preferred Requirements:
- CPA a plus
- Knowledge and administration of general ledger systems and procedures, preferably Microsoft Great Plains / Business Central software
- Strong computer skills, especially spreadsheet programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are all required
- Strong attention to details and accuracy
