Position Summary:
We are seeking a mission-driven and analytical Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing cash flow forecasting, P&L analysis, monthly financial reporting, and revenue recognition related to contributions and major gifts. You will also lead revenue analytics and KPI tracking across departments, helping the organization improve processes and take a proactive, forward-looking approach to financial management. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial acumen, nonprofit accounting experience, and a commitment to supporting the organization’s long-term sustainability and impact.
Location: Hybrid, Pasadena, CA
Expected Compensation Range: $87,000 - $97,000 USD annualized. The exact hourly rate is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Position Responsibilities:
- Cash Flow & Financial Management
- Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts to support short- and long-term financial planning
- Monitor liquidity and provide proactive recommendations to ensure adequate operating reserves
- Budgeting, Revenue Analytics & P&L Reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual budget vs. actual analysis across the P&L
- Partner with department leaders to support budget forecasting and financial strategy
- Prepare financial models and reports that align funding sources with organizational priorities
- Develop and track monthly KPIs across departments to monitor revenue, expenses, and operational efficiency
- Manage reconciliation of restricted funding to ensure accurate capture of all expenses and revenue, including approval of journal entries, expense reports, and other restricted fund activities for compliance
- Revenue Recognition for Contributions & Major Gifts
- Ensure proper revenue recognition for contributions, including restricted, unrestricted, and multi-year pledges
- Collaborate with Development to track, reconcile, and forecast major gifts
- Maintain accurate schedules for pledge receivables, donor restrictions, and net asset releases
- Financial Reporting, Analysis & Forward-Looking Insights
- Prepare monthly financial reports, dashboards, KPIs, and variance analysis for leadership and board reporting
- Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for both finance and non-finance audiences
- Identify trends and proactively highlight risks and opportunities to support forward-thinking decision-making
- Data Analysis, Process Improvement & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Continuously improve and streamline reporting processes and data accuracy through systems, automation, and best practices including the use of artificial intelligence
- Partner with cross-functional teams to tailor financial and data reporting in support of their strategic goals and operational priorities
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across teams to align financial insights with organizational goals
- Collaborate with intercompany finance business partners to ensure alignment on reporting, reconciliations, and cross-entity financial planning
- Ad Hoc Projects
- Contribute to internal and external reporting requirements including board materials and audit requests
- Assist in system implementations, reporting enhancements, and process improvements
- Lead or support special projects related to revenue, cost optimization, or organizational growth

Required Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in nonprofit finance, FP&A, or accounting
Required Skills, Knowledge And Abilities:
- Experience with major gift revenue tracking, KPI development, and reconciliation across fiscal periods
- Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization tools (Power BI, etc.)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a mission-driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to think proactively and provide forward-looking financial insights
