Functional Description:
This role requires comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience in cybersecurity, system administration, and IT support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and operational integrity of IT systems, maintaining compliance with various security frameworks, and providing technical assistance to end-users.
Duties And Responsibilities:
As a Journeyman System Administrator, you are responsible for providing information assurance, system administration, documentation, and customer support for Top Secret LAN that is necessary for the E-130J NC3 (Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications) next-generation aircraft being developed for the U.S. Navy's TACAMO (Take Charge and Move Out) mission.
Specific Requirements Include:
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain System Security Plans (SSP) and ensure Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG), NIST, and Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) compliance. This includes maintaining Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) and Security Control Traceability Matrix (SCTM) documentation, conducting security inspections, and participating in Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
- Vulnerability Management & Remediation: Conduct and analyze vulnerability scans (ACAS and SCAP), mitigate identified risks through patching (e.g., using Ivanti), and apply/verify STIGs using tools like Evaluate-STIG. This also involves continuous monitoring of networked and non-networked assets to identify and resolve potential risk exposure.
- System Administration & Network Operations: Provide comprehensive system administration support, including troubleshooting hardware and network issues, assisting with office build planning for compliance and connectivity, and deploying systems in SCIF/SAPF environments. Responsibilities also include maintaining IT equipment inventory across multiple sites, performing asset builds using Secure Host Baseline images, managing user accounts (creation, privilege escalation), and overseeing software license management.
- Documentation & Processes: Create and maintain robust cybersecurity documentation, including Authorization to Operate (ATOs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensure all machines comply with security policies by interpreting relevant documents.
- Help Desk & Customer Support: Offer direct technical support to users on various systems, effectively utilizing ticketing systems for incident and service request management. This includes assisting with technical issues, providing peripherals, enabling security mechanisms like MFA, and configuring software such as Microsoft Office/Outlook.
Required Experience:
Minimum of three years or more experience performing duties described in the functional description.
Desired Experience:
- Experience using Microsoft Windows Products and LINUX.
- Experience working in IA roles, installing updates and patches, and performing vulnerability scans and assessments.
- Working knowledge of Cyber/IA compliance standards and associated documentation.
- Proficiency in MS tools, PowerPoint, Excel, TEAMS, and MS Project.
- Ability to create pivot tables and graphs of data from exports of CSPT and other sources.
Education Requirements:
BA/BS degree from an accredited college or supplemental experience is required.
