Position Summary:
As an ABEC Mechanical Technician you will assemble and/or fabricate mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety or tools and equipment according to required specifications, instructions and blue prints in a fast-paced environment on industry leading equipment This role may include work in a Cleanroom environment as well. Manufacturing Technicians will take part in an exciting and robust TRAINING PROGRAM at other ABEC location(s). Responsibilities:
- Fabricate equipment accurately and with proper procedures in a timely manner
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fabrication process
- Use of all types of hand tools, fabricating equipment, measuring devices
- Work on stainless steel fabrication, including to but not limited to:
- Cutting Tube
- Operate hand grinders
- Polishing
- Bending
- Assembly
- Install and maintain utility/service lines
- Ability to carry out procedures in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Guidelines (GDLs)
- The candidate must understand fully the associated quality acceptance criteria and highlight anything that may not meet specification; first-time-right product
- Ability to compile all associated build documentation to an acceptable standard and in line with ABEC criteria
- The candidate must be willing to adhere to all associated standards and procedures associated with working in a classified clean environment
- Knowledge of all types of hand tools, fabricating equipment, measuring devices
- Operate overhead crane and/or forklift
- Conduct operations in a safe manner and be fully committed to maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Execute other tasks as assigned
- Ability to travel when required
- Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity
Requirements
Primary Requirements
- 1-2 years previous work experience
- Experience working with hands with the use of hand tools and basic fabrication tools
- Ability to read tape measure and perform simple mathematical equations
- Aptitude with blueprint reading
- Proficient with the use of hand tools and basic fabrication tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs / 23 kilograms
- Physically capable of wearing protective body, eye, ear, and head gear
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull and carry items
- Ability to wear all personal protective equipment & cleanroom gowning equipment
- Self-motivated
- Must be capable of maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Typical work is in a manufacturing environment and/or customer’s site
Additional Requirements (a plus but not required)
- Trade qualification (Pipe fitter / Plumber / Mechanic)
- Experience working (welding & polishing) with Stainless Steel
- Experience working in a classified clean environment
- Experience in producing documentation that is subject to quality and customer audit
- Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI)
- Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience
