BCU is seeking an Apprenticeship Compliance Officer to join our Directorate of Student and Academic Services. In this role, you will support the day-to-day activities to ensure high standards of regulatory compliance across all apprenticeship delivery and contractual obligations. The Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SAAS) leads on the development and provision of outstanding student facing services. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that students have an excellent experience and provides services across the student and academic lifecycle from enrolment to graduation, covering everything from wellbeing services to ensuring new courses are set up correctly. The Directorate is at the centre of a transformation programme as we seek to make services which underpin our student experience more efficient and effective.
The Apprenticeship Compliance Officer supports apprenticeship compliance activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and contractual obligations. They assist with monitoring and record-keeping to maintain standards and support the preparation for external audits including DfE funding audits and Ofsted inspections. They work closely with the compliance manager, operational teams and Academic Leads for Partnerships and Apprenticeships to maintain accurate and timely compliance information.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Supporting the monitoring of apprenticeship delivery to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assisting in maintaining accurate records and documentation related to apprenticeship compliance.
- Helping prepare documentation and evidence for external audits, including DfE funding audits and Ofsted inspections.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.
- Assisting in identifying and escalating compliance risks or issues.
- Supporting training activities relating to apprenticeship compliance.
The Apprenticeship Compliance Officer will have:
- Experience or knowledge of apprenticeship compliance or quality assurance processes.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- The ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Good communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and produce clear guidance documentation.
- The ability to work effectively within a team.
- Experience in monitoring and reporting compliance or performance data.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
