BCU is seeking an Apprenticeship Quality Compliance Officer to join our Directorate of Student and Academic Services. In this role, you will support apprenticeship quality compliance activities and assist with readiness for an Ofsted inspection. The Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SAAS) leads on the development and provision of outstanding student facing services. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that students have an excellent experience and provides services across the student and academic lifecycle from enrolment to graduation, covering everything from wellbeing services to ensuring new courses are set up correctly. The Directorate is at the centre of a transformation programme as we seek to make services which underpin our student experience more efficient and effective.
The Apprenticeship Quality Compliance Officer supports apprenticeship quality compliance activities, to assist with readiness for an Ofsted inspection. They will coordinate the SER, QIP, and monitor individual action plans. They support the preparation for Ofsted inspections. They work closely with the apprenticeship support manager, apprenticeship compliance team, quality team, operational teams and Academic Leads for Partnerships and Apprenticeships, and other stakeholders, to arrange training, share information and monitor progress.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Coordinating the SER, QIP, and monitoring individual action plans. You will support the preparation for Ofsted inspections.
- Supporting the planning and monitoring of inspection readiness, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinating and assisting with the writing of the self-assessment report, ensuring it is regularly reviewed, and data is accurate.
- Keeping up to date with the requirements for inspection and key judgement areas.
- Helping prepare documentation and evidence for Ofsted inspections.
- Responding to quality compliance related enquiries from staff, employers, and external partners.
The Apprenticeship Quality Compliance Officer will have:
- Experience or knowledge of apprenticeship compliance or quality assurance processes.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Good communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and produce clear guidance documentation.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Experience in monitoring and reporting compliance or performance data.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
