Role overview
We’re looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Engineering team in Málaga. In this role, you’ll design, build, and operate scalable network infrastructures that power our Data Centres and cloud environments. You’ll collaborate closely with our Product, Engineering, and Security teams to ensure performance, reliability, and security — helping shape the future of ILKARI’s network landscape.

What You'Ll Do

  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and reliable network infrastructure in cloud environments and Data Centers.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security and Delivery teams on architecture, change control, risk assessments and adoption of new technologies.
  • Evaluate and pilot new networking technologies, delivering ROI-backed recommendations that improve performance, scalability, and resilience while reducing total cost of ownership
  • Lead complex root‑cause analysis and resolution of high‑severity incidents; coordinate cross‑team incident response, post‑mortems and preventative actions.
  • Document network architecture, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and training purposes
  • Identify and deliver automation opportunities (CI/CD, scripting, configuration management) to reduce manual toil and accelerate deployments.
  • Drive improvements to monitoring, telemetry, alerting and observability (including expansion of network monitoring capability and alert tuning).
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory and operational standards; contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Mentor and upskill junior/mid engineers; provide technical reviews, runbooks and training.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network incidents and emergencies

What are we looking for

Technical Skills

  • ~6 years in designs solutions, leads initiatives, automates, mentors, drives standards.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure in cloud environments.
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including VXLAN-EVPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, and subnetting.
  • Strong proficiency in network security principles and practices, including firewalls, encryption, identity and access management, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with observability stacks (Datadog, PRTG, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK) and network security tooling
  • Scripting / automation experience (Python, Ansible, Terraform or similar) to drive repeatable operations.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with packet capture tools and experience with performance analysis and capacity planning.
  • Strong documentation, runbook and process design skills.

• Certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE) or equivalent experience are a plus

Soft Skills

  • Very good problem-solving skills, open mind towards feedback, and can-do attitude.
  • Self-motivated and self-managing, with excellent organisational skills.
  • Clear communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Experience & Education

  • Proven experience working within complex network environments (Data Centre or Cloud).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
