The Opportunity:

We are looking for two experienced and talented network engineers to join the team and help manage and develop the university network and its security. Working on the full network stack across two datacentres and over 300 buildings, you will have constant opportunity to show your talent and learn new skills.

  • Overall systems management and service-wide configuration of network infrastructure assets and services. Contribute to the Second line service support to the University at large, and specialist support to the rest of the Communications Infrastructure Services. 
  • Ensuring security measures are developed and applied consistently and effectively across the network to protect communications infrastructure, including incident response functions. 

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. 

The salary for this post is £41,064 to £48,822 per annum.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Good knowledge and experience of network switching and routing 
  • At least two years’ experience of the operational management and service delivery of a data network or significant part thereof. 
  • Solid understanding of security principles, particularly within a network environment. 
  • Ensuring security measures are developed and applied consistently and effectively across the network to protect communications infrastructure, including incident response functions. 
  • Responsive and flexible, you will be a good communicator to a variety of audiences.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who have experience in one or more HPE/Aruba technologies - ClearPass, AOS, Airwave, IMC and Commware, as well as Fortinet.
