The role reports directly to the Director of Accounting and has primary responsibility for coordinating with our outside tax firm, addressing IRS notices, state notices, and other notices received via mail, assisting with audit requests, managing two people who handle business personal property taxes and sales and use taxes, assisting Director with ad hoc tax projects and requests.


  • Serve as primary liaison with external tax firm to ensure timely and accurate communication
  • Coordinate tax payments, tax mailings and other administrative tax tasks
  • Review and respond to IRS, state, and other tax-related notices received via mail
  • Support audit processes by gathering documentation and coordinating responses to auditor inquiries
  • Supervise and provide guidance to two team members responsible for business personal property taxes and sales and use taxes
  • Maintain compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with the Director of Accounting on ad hoc tax projects and special requests
  • Monitor compliance with tax regulations and assist in implementing process improvements
  • Maintain organized records of correspondence, filings, and audit materials
  • Maintain accurate, timely and well-organized computer and paper files and supporting documentation for areas of responsibility.
  • Identify, develop, implement and maintain systems, policies and procedures to promote appropriate internal controls, best practices and efficient and cost-effective processes
  • Monitor areas of responsibility on a continual basis to identify process and efficiency improvements (e.g., automation)
  • Meet departmental goals and expectations and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Oversee area of responsibility in a manner consistent with the Mission and Values of the Company
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree (B.S. or equivalent) in Accounting
  • Minimum of 4 years’ progressive accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, xlookups, and analyzing large amounts of data) preferred
  • Must be comfortable working in a high volume, data-intensive environment
  • Experience in Microsoft Business Central a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional Series (Excel, Word and Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn and use job-specific computer programs
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong communications, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to gather facts and analyze problems in depth and break down into components
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization promptly and professionally
