General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Database Security Subject-Matter Expert/Technical Lead to support one of our federal customers on an enterprise cyber program in the DC metropolitan area. This hybrid position offers a combination of remote work and periodic on-site support and customer meetings. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operating web vulnerability assessment tools, securing various database systems, and managing database security in large-scale environments.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Operate web vulnerability assessment tools and analyze and interpret results to identify security vulnerabilities within database systems.
- Secure diverse database systems, including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Develop and implement database security policies, standards, and procedures to protect sensitive information.
- Lead the efforts in securing over 1000+ databases in production environments.
- Provide hands-on expertise in managing and securing mixed database technologies within enterprise environments.
- Integrate database security tools with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, such as Splunk.
- Collaborate with database administrators, developers, and other IT staff to ensure best security practices are followed.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Stay current with emerging threats and industry best practices to continuously improve the organization's database security posture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Demonstrable credentials reflecting knowledge, skills, and experience in database security and vulnerability assessment.
- 10+ years of experience in database security, database administration, or information security.
- 3+ years of experience securing diverse database platforms in enterprise or large-scale environments.
- Proven experience securely managing at least 1000+ databases in production environments.
- Hands-on experience in enterprise environments with mixed database technologies, including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Experience integrating database security tools with SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying and addressing database security issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- US Citizenship required
Desired Qualifications
- Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or similar are advantageous.
- Familiarity with federal security regulations and compliance standards.
- Experience in creating and maintaining detailed documentation for database security practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of cloud-based database security practices and tools.
- Prior experience in the health domain.
- Must have experience supporting a Government agency.
