As Marqeta's Senior Product Manager for Credit, you will lead product strategy for the Accounts team, serving as the strategic owner of our credit ledger. You'll partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to manage complex product builds from discovery to launch, while acting as the subject matter expert for our credit platform architecture. This role sits at the intersection of payments innovation and credit operations, directly impacting how our customers design, launch, and scale their credit programs.

You will own a critical area of Marqeta's Credit Platform that manages the ledger for all credit accounts, ensuring seamless integration with our broader issuing processing capabilities and the comprehensive program management tools we've built since our launch.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario or Vancouver Metro Area, BC. We’d love for you to join us!

The Impact You'll Have

  • Define and own the strategic roadmap for the credit accounts platform, aligning with Marqeta's broader credit platform vision and company goals
  • Shape the evolution of our credit system of record to support innovative product features and flexible payment cycles
  • Work cross-functionally across product, engineering, operations, legal/compliance, and risk teams to bring new products and features to market with our external customers
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives that span credit account lifecycle management and customer experience optimization
  • Write detailed product requirements and technical documentation to guide engineering teams building scalable backend systems and APIs
  • Collaborate closely with engineering on system architecture decisions that impact account management, transaction processing, and data integrity
  • Ensure robust API design that enables customers to integrate credit account functionality seamlessly into their applications
  • Use data-driven prioritization to manage timelines and trade-off decisions across competing product builds
  • Analyze account performance metrics, customer usage patterns, and operational efficiency to inform product roadmap decisions
  • Balance quantitative insights with qualitative customer feedback to optimize the credit account experience
  • Develop deep subject matter expertise within credit account management, becoming the go-to resource for complex technical and business questions
  • Enable customers to launch differentiated credit programs by providing flexible account management capabilities and customizable user experiences

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of product management experience in credit cards, lending, or payments
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with backend systems and API development - you can speak fluently with engineering teams about system architecture and data models
  • Deep technical acumen with familiarity across APIs, distributed services, and modern production support practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail - you can identify root causes in complex systems and drive accountability for resolution
  • Exceptional communication skills - ability to simplify and explain complex technical and regulatory issues to a wide range of stakeholders, from engineers to external customers
  • Effective influence and collaboration at all levels of the organization, with experience managing up, across, and down
  • Proficient in data analysis and comfortable using metrics to make prioritization decisions and measure product success

Nice-To-Haves

  • Familiarity with credit card operations: billing, payments, disputes, account management, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Understanding of payment technology best practices and regulations

Compensation And Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. 

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position, reflected in CAD,  is: 107,000 - 133,700
