We are looking for an EU Compliance Officer to join our global Compliance Team and lead Tipalti’s compliance framework in the EU. This position is responsible for ensuring that Tipalti complies on an ongoing basis, and keeps abreast with all applicable laws and regulations for e-money institutions in the Netherlands and in the European Union. This role will also be responsible for maintaining and growing the risk management function at Tipalti. A strong knowledge of European regulators and regulations is required, as well as experience with AML and KYC requirements. 

The Compliance Officer will play a vital role in monitoring our day-to-day operations in the region and implementing appropriate controls to meet applicable laws, the regulator's guidelines and Tipalti’s standards. This person will be required to identify, assess and mitigate FinCrime risks that the business is exposed to, and come up with the appropriate framework to ensure those risks are mitigated appropriately. 

The Compliance Officer will independently lead regulatory-driven projects within the business, from reading and interpreting regulations through to full execution of project/s. The position holder will work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, legal, operations, product, and engineering, to integrate compliance into all aspects of our business processes.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the Compliance and Regulatory function for Tipalti in the EU and oversee its management.
  • Develop and implement a compliance framework ensuring that it is in line with relevant laws and regulations, including European regulators and regulations.
  • Keep abreast of changes in AML/CFT laws, regulations, and industry best practices, and ensuring that Tipalti's policies and controls are adjusted accordingly.
  • Develop and grow enterprise risk management frameworks, policies and programs for the entire organization. 
  • Conduct risk assessments identifying and mitigating risks related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), and other compliance requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that all employees are aware of the compliance requirements and that they understand their responsibilities.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including AML and KYC requirements, and report any issues or concerns to senior management.
  • Review and update policies and procedures to ensure that they reflect changes in laws and regulations and industry best practices.
  • Investigate and report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that our compliance framework meets their needs while also mitigating risks.
  • Possess a can do attitude and be able to dive in and get the job done when needed. 
  • Provide advice to the business on a wide range of compliance matters.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6-10 years of experience in a financial services firm, related e-money or payment institution firm with proven experience in Compliance. 
  • Experience with working with the Dutch Central Bank.
  • Strong technical knowledge of EU compliance regulations and requirements, AML frameworks, risk and typologies
  • Excellent relationship skills and ability to build strong working relationships with peers, colleagues and with remotely based teams and individuals at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of the FinTech industry and its products
  • A sense of urgency and aptitude for multi-tasking, quickly identifying issues and escalating to the appropriate level for resolution
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and with distributed teams across different geographies & cultures
  • Active CAMS certification desired but not required.
