Environmental Engineer (Ref: 250000Y0)

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and implement green initiatives and technologies to enhance environmental performance across MTR operations, in alignment with corporation’s ESG objectives.
• Develop and execute environmental management programmes that promote circularity, resource efficiency and low-carbon solutions.
• Engage and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to manage environmental consultancy projects to ensure regulatory compliance and smooth project delivery.
• Coordinate and conduct research on global trends and pilot studies on green technologies applicable to railway operations, including energy efficiency, renewable integration, and nature-based solutions.
• Review the adequacy of existing measures and assess the environmental risks arising from the operating railway
• Prepare technical documentation, including tender specifications, submissions, and audit reports, and provide recommendations to support project execution and compliance with Hong Kong environmental regulations and ESG standards.
• Participate in site inspections, environmental risk assessments, and sustainability presentations to support internal and external engagement.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, of which 3 years should be in railway-related environmental assessment, analysis and management
• Possession of Corporate Membership of a recognized professional institution is an advantage
• Knowledge of computer programming, smart environmental technologies and carbon footprint analysis
• Familiarity with Hong Kong environmental legislation (e.g. EIA Ordinance, Noise Control Ordinance etc.) and ESG reporting frameworks
• Proficient in MS PowerPoint and Excel with ability to create visual materials for reporting and presentations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Mandarin
• Self-motivated, able to plan and execute environmental initiatives independently with good leadership and stakeholder management skills

• Candidate withs less experience will be considered for the Assistant Environmental Engineer position
