Software Tester (Manual and Automation)

Job Summary:

As a Software Quality Engineer (SQE), you will test product software. You will be responsible for performing functional and non-functional testing of products, and ensuring high quality delivery of these products to clients. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Study requirements and software design carefully. 
• Understand the testing strategy and create test cases as per the strategy. 
• Learn to perform automated testing using the appropriate automation tool and scripting language. 
• Execute test cases on the application, report any defects found, and track them to closure. 
• Participate in review of test artifacts produced by other team members. 
• Learn and follow Cytel’s processes applicable to your work. 
• Estimate and plan your own work. 
• Work in an Agile Scrum team collaborating with Subject Matter Experts, developers, testers, etc. 
• Master relevant software testing practices, tools, and technologies. 
• Comply with relevant company policies. 
• Keep knowledge up to date by undergoing appropriate trainings and courses. 
• Familiarize yourself with Cytel’s values and competencies and incorporate in your work.  

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) or equivalent STEM degree are preferred; however, candidates from other disciplines with relevant skills and competencies may also be considered. 

Experience:

• 1-2 years’ experience testing rich and highly interactive scientific web applications or desktop applications 

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written English communication skills  
• Strong logical aptitude and analytical skills 
• Self-driven with the ability to think creatively and solve complex problems 
• Basic knowledge of different types of testing based on your role in the project – functional, non-functional, manual, automated, etc. 

• Collaborative Mindset

Optional Skills:

• Knowledge of tools like TestRail, Postman, LoadRunner and JMeter 
• Knowledge of automation tools like Selenium and Ranorex 
• Knowledge of scripting languages like JavaScript, C#, or Python 
• Knowledge of a variety of architectures like client server, layered architecture, microservices, etc. 
• Certified by ISTQB, CAST, CSTE (or similar)
