Role Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team based in Livingston, Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, analysing project requirements, and providing financial insights to support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of construction processes, and effective communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall purpose of the role is to develop and manage contract budgets and forecasts to ensure the financial control and profitability of allocated contracts.
- Promote, follow, and influence good Project governance through the policies and procedures.
- To develop, manage and extend commercial relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Act as project commercial focal point to ensure all project team members are aware of the key deliverables.
- Preparation of monthly valuations , including keeping the measure, variation account and final account forecasts up to date.
- Control WIP and Final Account Settlements to ensure effective project cash flow.
- Ensure effective RFI/CVI schedules are utilised and kept updated to manage commercial risk.
- Produce monthly cost value reconciliations (CVR’s) in a timely fashion.
- Ensure outstanding cash is monitored, effectively reported on and collected on or before its due date.
- Complete subcontract enquiry documentation, provide returns for review, issue authorised subcontract orders clearly detailing scope, specification, programme, attendances, priced measure schedules and specific performance requirements.
- Ensure subcontractor and supplier accounts are processed accurately in accordance with contractual timelines to ensure business continuity.
- Weekly site visits to monitor variations, assess progress towards expenditure and support the operational manager.
- Monitor material expenditure against tender requirements and provide regular forecasts on project outturn.
- Prepare contractual notices in regard to client, supplier and subcontract requirements.
- Attend project mobilisation meetings, playing an active part to ensure that all parties are aware of the scope, specification, programme, tender budgets and that any other key deliverables are understood and recorded.
- Complete property surveys, provide dimensioned plans and enabling schedules as required.
- Produce monthly commercial reports as required.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures including using Company Software.
- Ad hoc duties.
Knowledge And Experience:
- HND/ HNC Level, in a relevant construction acknowledged course
- Previous experience within social housing
- Excellent construction technology knowledge
- Previous experience working with SOR
- Good working knowledge of forms of contact currently used within the building trade
- Financial reporting
- Quality inspections
- Microsoft packages, specifically Excel user ability to a good standard
