The Mechanical Engineer is a highly talented individual contributor who will serve as part of our Mechanical Engineering function in the Play Engineering Hardware and Embedded Systems Group. This group operates on a global scale within the Play Engineering organization in Product and Marketing Development at the LEGO Group.
Our mission is to redefine the future of play for the builders of tomorrow. The role will be based in our brand-new Boston Hub, where LEGO Play Engineering is expanding our global footprint, or at the LEGO Group Headquarters in Billund, Denmark
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as an individual contributor on project teams charged with delivering innovative, complex mechanical product development and industrialization solutions under the direction of a Lead Mechanical Engineer.
- Show curiosity and passion for acquiring and applying foundational knowledge and skills to contribute to engineering projects.
- Demonstrate strength in core mechanical engineering skills such as: concept development, rapid prototyping, multiphysics simulation, experimental design, creative problem solving, risk and cost management, production intent design, testing, CAD, tolerance analysis, DFX, root cause analysis
- Follow established engineering processes and procedures.
- Deliver high-quality work that meets project objectives and quality standards.
- Design, implement, and test technical components or systems according to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in engineering designs.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure mechanical solutions are aligned with our architectural blueprint, and meet all safety/regulatory/quality requirements and all other agreed-to requirements.
- Demonstrate by example excellence in engineering, teamwork, innovation, risk management/mitigation, and delivery throughout all lifecycle stages.
- Collaborate with multi-functional team members from Boston, Denmark, and Singapore to support our global capability growth efforts.
Do You Have What It Takes
- A builder with passion for creatively using technology as a vehicle to deliver truly awesome play experiences to children around the world.
- Experience in mechanical engineering design and development roles that involve work spanning from idea stage to mass production on projects involving robotics/mechatronics, microelectronics, complex systems, low power electronics and battery technology, or other similar domains.
- Demonstrated experience on at least several projects involving modern high-volume mechanical systems development in relevant markets (e.g. consumer electronics, robotics, medical devices, automotive, or similar).
- Familiarity with models for working with key mechanical component providers and global manufacturing partners.
- Growing capabilities in creative technical problem solving in complex mechanical systems, coupled with well-balanced people skills.
- Track record of strong written and verbal communications skills on global engineering efforts involving both internal and 3rd party partner companies.
- Ability to travel globally as necessary, roughly 20-30 days per year, as part of our global team.

Compensation
The salary for this position has a range of $81,631.00 - $122,447.00 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalisation of the employment offer.Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
