Overview

The Tyndale Company is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join the team. This Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing ETL workflows, automation scripts, and scheduled jobs to support the seamless flow of data across business systems, including a custom ERP platform. This role requires strong skills in SQL Server, SSIS, PowerShell scripting, and enterprise job scheduling, with a focus on performance, reliability, and operational visibility. The Automation Engineer works closely with Business Data Engineers, DBAs, SREs , and other IT teams to ensure backend processes run efficiently and securely.

HYBRID/REMOTE: Tyndale supports a strong work-life balance. This opportunity requires onsite work a minimum of 1 day per week, and 4 days per week remotely. To be considered, candidates must reside within a commutable distance from our corporate headquarters in Pipersville, PA (Bucks County).

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks, system integrations, data movement, and alerting workflows.
  • Setup and migration of new ETL pipeline to replace legacy system
  • Manage and monitor job scheduling through JAMS, including designing job chains, setting dependencies, and configuring schedules for high reliability.
  • Build and optimize ETL workflows using SSIS and T-SQL for data extraction, transformation, and loading across internal systems.
  • Proactively monitor jobs, handle errors and escalations, and tune performance for automation and ETL pipelines.
  • Maintain clear documentation for automation scripts, job schedules, error handling routines, and system integration points.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through scripting, job chaining, and workflow orchestration enhancements.
  • Ensure job execution and data movement are logged and traceable, supporting internal controls and audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with scripting for automation, file manipulation, data processing and system integration
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, views, and functions
  • Experience with SSIS for ETL workflows, including data imports, exports, and transformation packages
  • Experience with enterprise scheduling tools)
  • Strong understanding of automated workflows, error handling, logging, and job dependencies
  • Ability to diagnose failures, analyze root causes, and proactively improve reliability of scheduled processes
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) and task tracking systems (e.g., Jira)
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to document technical processes and communicate with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working in environments with custom ERP systems and/or complex integration points is a plus
  • Experience building alerting/notification systems around job failure and recovery (via email, dashboards, or monitoring systems)
  • Exposure to SSRS, Power BI, or related tools for operational reporting is a plus
  • Familiarity with basic Windows Server administration, permissions, and service configuration
  • Previous experience supporting financial, operational, or ERP-related data processes
