As part of Transport for NSW’s transformative agenda, the Transport Asset Manager (TAM) has been established to enhance the safety and reliability of the state's heavy rail assets, facilitating long-term investment in rail infrastructure, while also allowing for efficient operations and asset surety.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Asset Manager to assist with the strategic management of the Heavy Rail Corridor asset class.
This role will be pivotal in shaping and delivering long-term asset custodianship across a diverse and complex corridor environment—including track, formation, structures, drainage, utilities, and access infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Strategic Transport Asset and Services Plan (TAM SASP) and TAM Asset and Services Plans (TAM ASP), ensuring they reflect whole-of-life asset principles, operational needs, and strategic objectives.
- Support the preparation and refinement of investment plans, collaborating with internal stakeholders to align project proposals and funding submissions with identified asset priorities and condition profiles.
- Monitor asset performance against defined safety, maintenance, and operational standards, supporting assurance processes and contributing to risk management and compliance reporting.
- Identify and document whole of life (WOL) asset management practices and asset lifecycle improvement opportunities, such as refurbishment, replacement, or retirement, to inform future investment and optimisation strategies.
- Provide asset-specific advice into governance processes and forums, supporting the Senior Manager in representing asset owner interests and validating changes to programs affecting asset intent.
- Engage with internal stakeholders, including operations, planning, and delivery teams, to ensure asset management requirements are incorporated into planning and delivery activities.
- Support change management and stakeholder engagement activities related to asset strategy implementation, ensuring alignment with policy, regulatory, and organisational expectations.
Key Challenges:
- Establishing and continuously improving ways of working with Transport for NSW across the asset portfolio.
- Managing ageing infrastructure within the heavy rail corridor while balancing safety, performance, and cost efficiency in a constrained funding environment.
- Aligning strategic asset planning with complex stakeholder expectations and operational dependencies across the broader transport network
