Our Pact Packaging division is pioneering a whole of product life cycle approach to sustainable packaging. Partnering with global brands to local dairy producers, we integrate supply chain efficiencies and sustainable practices into everything we design and manufacture.
About This Opportunity
Reporting to the Plant Manager the Production Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of the full production area. The focus of the role is to build a culture that has a strong Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence mindset driving towards achieving production KPIs within.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Champion a safety-first culture
- Lead and develop the production team, with a focus on talent building of the mould change team and the production technicians.
- Ensure all products are made on time and to specification.
- Challenge established standards regarding productivity
- Promote culture of LEAN & Continuous Improvement towards world’s best practice.
- Model direct, and respectful communication is practiced across the site.
- Ensure all standards ISO, HACCP and GMP standards and practices are achieved.
- Action weekly production plans with a focus on minimising waste and machine uptime
- Work with the reliability manager, continue to review machine setups, and optimise product manufacture.
- Work with the Supply Chain Team to ensure that planning and scheduling are optimised and that key issues likely to impact customer delivery needs are known and understood.
- Support the maintenance and logistics teams.
- Have a Continuous Improvement mindset to improved Safety, Productivity, Quality and Reliability
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll have
- previous experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Proven experience in Lean and Operational Excellence
- Experience at a management level in a manufacturing environment, which embraces continuous improvement
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to motivate, lead and supervise.
- Ability to coach and mentor.
- Leadership, influencing, negotiation, change management, conflict resolution, financial and computer literacy skills
Qualifications
Degree qualified is preferable in addition to solid experience in supervision within a manufacturing environment.
