Job Description

The primary role of the Geology Database Administrator is to manage the AcQuire database for gold mining and exploration programs at and near the Haile gold mine. This role will be based at the exploration office at the Haile mine site and report to the Exploration Superintendent.  Essential functions include:

  • Works directly with open pit, underground, and exploration geologist, technicians and outside labs to maintain accurate and current data within AcQuire database.
  • Makes any adjustments necessary to AcQuire database to accommodate evolving data needs
  • Develop and execute workflows to support data collection efforts, data import and export, quality control
  • Monitor and report to geologist any concerns with quality assurance/quality control in geology data
  • Contribute to reports for a variety of audiences
  • Act in accordance with and promote Company values and best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in exploration or mining including 3+ years in database management
  • Competence with AcQuire or similar industry-standard database software required.
  • Familiarity with mining/geology software packages such as Leapfrog, Vulcan, ioGas, and ArcMap
  • Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualization / reporting software considered an asset
  • Ability to communicate well with all stakeholders required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Shows a continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, community and environment
  • Must be able to legally work in the USA
  • Must possess a valid USA drivers’ license
  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, talk, hear, and see.
  • Must be able to work 10 hour shifts.
  • This is an on-site residential position with no remote work or fly-in fly-out schedule.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Work is in a surface mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Safely operate 4WD light vehicles on highways, off-road, and on an active mine site.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
