Trip.com Group is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Legal Counsel to join our EMEA Legal team, reporting to the Legal Director. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting our fast-paced, global travel business. Based in either Paris or Rome, you'll partner closely with teams across the region to provide pragmatic legal advice, ensure compliance, and help shape business initiatives.
In this Role, you’ll get to
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including contracts with travel product suppliers such as airlines, hotels, and other partners.
- Provide clear and practical legal advice to commercial teams on key projects, new business initiatives, and day-to-day matters.
- Support and advise on compliance topics, particularly relating to data protection, consumer protection, marketing and promotions, and travel laws.
- Stay informed on emerging legal and regulatory developments and communicate updates to relevant business teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as HR, Finance, Business Units, Marketing, and Customer Service to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Prepare and deliver training sessions and guidance materials on relevant legal topics.
- Assist with the management and resolution of disputes and customer complaints.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal legal processes and best practices.
- Support employment law and corporate maintenance matters as required.
- Manage and instruct external counsel across EMEA jurisdictions.
- Qualified lawyer with a law degree and a minimum of 8 years' post-qualification experience in France and/or Italy, gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal team.
- Strong technical grounding and a solid understanding of B2B and B2C commercial and regulatory issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and proactively support business goals.
- Commercially minded, with sound judgment and the ability to balance legal risk with business needs.
- Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- A genuine team player who thrives in a multicultural and international environment.
- Curious and eager to learn, with enthusiasm for tackling new challenges and subject areas.
- Experience in the travel industry and/or with start-ups is advantageous but not required.
- Fluency in English is essential.
- Fluency in French and/or Italian is essential.
