- The Opportunity
- Mosaic is seeking Legal Counsel to work out of our Nanaimo office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
The Role
Reporting to the VP, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, the Legal Counsel will offer internal legal advice encompassing various commercial matters, with an emphasis on real property matters, and provide support to the VP, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary in multiple areas of law. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide high quality and practical legal advice, largely focused on real property matters, to the business team on day-to-day legal matters and strategic initiatives;
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal agreements relating to real estate matters and interests in land, commercial contracts, employment of contractors and service providers, and data licensing;
- Direct and oversee the work of external legal advisors;
- Assist General Counsel & Corporate Secretary with corporate governance requirements;
- Perform independent legal research and analysis of statutes, regulations and case law; and
- Support the business team with relationships with external stakeholders.
What We’Re Seeking:
- Bachelor’s Degree and LLB/JD;
- Minimum 4 years of Canadian Bar experience;
- Preference will be given to a candidate with experience from a national or regional law firm;
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of BC is required;
- Expertise in Commercial Real Estate law in BC is required;
- Experience in dealing with federal and provincial Crown agencies is preferred but not required;
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels; and
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

- Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
