Sokin's team continues to grow and we’re now looking for a Senior Global Tax Manager to build and lead Sokin’s global tax function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll be the go-to tax expert for a fast-growing B2B fintech, designing our tax framework, overseeing multi-jurisdictional compliance, and partnering with senior leaders to support scalable, tax-efficient growth across our global footprint.

Key Responsibilities
- Establish Tax Infrastructure: Design and implement a comprehensive Group Tax framework, including policies, processes, and systems for direct and indirect taxes (e.g., corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding taxes) tailored to a global FinTech operation.
- Compliance and Reporting: Oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of all tax returns, provisions, and disclosures for UK and international entities. Ensure adherence to evolving regulations in key markets (e.g., EU, US, APAC).
- Tax Planning and Optimization: Develop and execute tax-efficient strategies for cross-border transactions, M&A, funding rounds, and product launches. Identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities while maintaining ethical standards.
- Global Advisor Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison with external tax advisors, auditors, and legal experts worldwide. Manage relationships to leverage specialized knowledge in local jurisdictions and negotiate favourable outcomes.
- Risk Management: Conduct tax risk assessments, implement controls to mitigate exposures (e.g., transfer pricing), and monitor global tax developments impacting FinTech (e.g., digital services taxes, crypto regulations).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Provide tax insights to senior management on business initiatives, including financial modelling for tax impacts. Support finance, legal, and operations teams on ad-hoc projects like entity structuring for new markets.
- Team Building: As the inaugural hire, recruit and mentor future tax team members as the function scales, fostering a culture of innovation and compliance.
- Reporting and Analysis: Deliver accurate group tax forecasts, effective tax rate projections, and quarterly/annual reports to leadership.
Requirements
- Experience: 8+ years in tax, with at least 4 years in a global corporate tax role at a FinTech, financial services, or high-growth tech firm. Proven track record as the first or lead tax professional in a scaling business, demonstrating the ability to operate independently without heavy oversight.
- Global Expertise: Hands-on experience managing multi-jurisdictional tax compliance and planning (e.g., UK CT, US federal/state, EU VAT). Familiarity with FinTech-specific issues like payment processing taxes, regulatory sandboxes, and cross-border data flows.
- Autonomy and Initiative: Comfortable building processes from scratch in ambiguous, fast-evolving environments. Strong project management skills to prioritize amid competing demands.
- Advisor Management: Demonstrable success in coordinating international tax advisors (e.g., Big 4 firms like EY, Deloitte) to deliver cost-effective, high-quality advice.
- Qualifications: Qualified tax professional (e.g., CTA, ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent). Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's or advanced tax certification preferred.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication to influence C-suite stakeholders; analytical mindset for complex problem-solving; resilient and adaptable to global time zones and regulatory shifts.
