Your Role
About the Role
As a Systems Engineer at Babcock, you’ll be a key member of an integrated product team driving the design, delivery, acceptance, and sustainment of software subsystems for the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communication System (EDHFCS) and other critical defence projects.
- Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will own and contribute to high-quality engineering artefacts and support subsystem design, analysis, integration, testing, and certification activities.
- In this role, you’ll lead and participate in stakeholder workshops, interface discussions, and formal reviews, ensuring technical requirements are accurately derived, allocated, and verified.
You’ll also support Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) activities, manage engineering baselines, and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and practices.
About You
You are a capable Systems Engineer with experience in software-intensive systems, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
You bring strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills, enabling you to plan and deliver your own tasks while producing clear, accurate, DID-compliant technical artefacts.
Your solid understanding of software design, analysis, development, and integration techniques allows you to support subsystem requirements, testing, and technical investigations with confidence.
You understand how to apply engineering procedures, standards, and risk assessments, and you take pride in contributing to sustainable, innovative solutions.
With a mindset focused on quality, accountability, and professional development, you support positive working relationships and help build technical capability across the broader Babcock engineering community.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Previous relevant experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.
- A working understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. Magic Draw, Teamcenter, or other PLM/MRP systems, modelling, design, simulation and analysis software).
- Experience in Defence (ASDEFCON preferred) Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
- Experience in an Agile Software Engineering environment (e.g. Sprints and Kanbans).
- Experience in requirements management and use of associated toolsets (e.g. IBM DOORS).
- Proficient in using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Microsoft Office suite, and other project management and documentation software.
