We're seeking a Solution Architect with strong hands-on development experience and a passion for designing practical, scalable solutions that meet real-world business needs.

About The Role

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will lead the end-to-end architectural design and support delivery of technical solutions across our Laravel/PHP & Vue.js platforms, along with business systems as needed.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of architecture and implementation, comfortable designing modern system architectures, developing proof of concepts and participating in technical reviews where needed.

You’ll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and partners to drive architectural direction. You’ll focus on domain modelling, data flows, and translating complex requirements into scalable, maintainable system designs that guide implementation and ensure business alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture

• Work with both the Product and Engineering teams to drive the technical architecture and long-term vision for our Laravel/PHP platform
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient solutions aligned with the product roadmap and desired user experience
• Lead solution design efforts across a range of business initiatives
• Support and advocate for the Build vs Buy conversation based on strategic value
• Own architectural decision-making, documentation, and governance processes

Hands-On Development

• Design and build proof of concepts to validate solution architecture, assess new technologies, and de-risk technical decisions
• Collaborate with developers during solution implementation, offering support and architectural context
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to ensure adherence to architectural principles, coding standards, and maintainability
• Support the resolution of complex technical challenges such as scalability constraints, integration design, and performance tuning
• Contribute to evolving best practices around CI/CD, observability, and cloud infrastructure as needed

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor engineers on solution design, system architecture, and development best practices
• Promote a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement
• Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and methodologies aligned with platform goals

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Translate complex technical designs into business-aligned solutions
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to shape effective, maintainable architectures
• Partner with strategic vendors and clients where needed to define and deliver external integrations (as part of broader solution responsibilities)

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

• 7+ years in software development
• Strong PHP/Laravel skills and experience with cloud-native architectures (especially AWS)
• Proficiency in REST API design and implementation, event-driven architectures, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
• Experience with secure application development (OAuth, API security, IAM), building scalable applications
• Familiarity with integration strategies and API-based system interoperability (as part of a broader architectural toolkit)

Domain Knowledge

• Experience in real estate, proptech, or financial services domains is highly valued
• Understanding of Australian real estate CRM systems, financial APIs, or marketplace ecosystems is a strong plus

Professional Skills

• Proven ability to lead and influence technical decision-making
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfort producing technical diagrams, architecture documents, and design specs
• High ownership mindset and proactive problem-solving skills
