Job Description
Reporting to the Site Quality Manager, the Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineer will support internal and external customers in resolving quality issues to achieve business goals and objectives. The NQA Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Nuclear Quality Management System, analyzing non-conformances, leading nuclear audits, performing and reporting root cause analyses, and issuing and participating in corrective action reports.
Nuclear Quality Management System:
- Maintain and continuously improve the NQA QMS to comply with all new and relevant Government and industry requirements.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis of Quality Incidents and supplier complaints.
- Monitor and continuously improve the quality of products manufactured by John Crane and relevant suppliers.
- Perform contract reviews to understand customer specifications and collaborate with the relevant teams to ensure all requirements are met for the final product.
- Lead customer and industry audits of the facility and the QMS.
- Lead corrective action process to ensure the identified causes are adequately addressed to avoid problem reoccurrence.
- Assist in new product qualification for both product performance and manufacturability, including testing and documentation needs for compliance with NQA-1.
- Maintain the Nuclear Calibration Program.
Quality Awareness And Competencies Training:
- Provides technical assistance in training, mentoring, and coaching for professional and technical staff.
- Assists in contributing to and promoting Quality awareness initiatives.
Quality Improvement Projects:
- Lead continuous improvement projects using structured quality methodologies such as PDCA or Lean Six Sigma.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive quality culture and best practices throughout the organization as applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- Experience in NQA-1, 10 CFR 50, and 10 CFR 21.
- Must have 5+ years of experience in technical roles, preferably in a large multi-location business.
- Knowledge and understanding of QMS Processes and ISO 9001.
- Demonstrated experience in quality management tools, such as: Control Plans, Kaizen, 5S, Statistical Analysis, Root Cause analysis tools, Corrective Action Systems, FMEA, IPPAP and Cause and Effect Diagrams preferred.
- Ability to make good judgments and recommendations by effectively sourcing and analyzing critical information.
- Demonstrated experience in data visualization in Microsoft Excel and/or other data visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to persistently pursue and achieve results. Skilled in leveraging data and analytics to proactively monitor and review plans, exceed targets, and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge and proven experience in managing technically complex issues.
