What You Will Be Doing
ChargePoint is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to join our Test Engineering team. Our test systems are deployed to our manufacturing locations and interact with our products’ software, electrical and mechanical components during the manufacturing process. The Hardware Test Engineer will work to ensure the streamlined development, deployment of common architecture and processes for all Test Systems.
This role is critical to the successful design, validation, and deployment of automated production testers at our key contract manufacturers (CMs) in Thailand and Malaysia to ensure all our electromechanical sub-assemblies and systems are manufactured, programmed, configured and assembled according to specifications. You will also work closely with internal cross-functional Hardware, Software, Quality, and Operations teams. You will also work closely with external teams from our manufacturing partners and tester vendors.
What You Will Bring To Chargepoint
This role will be responsible for the following activities
- Collaborate cross-functionally on test requirements through the entire product lifecycle
- Conduct and participate in PCBA and system-level schematic review to specify, design, and validate functional testers
- Analyze parametric and functional test results from manufacturing facilities
- Analyze and debug tester failures and provide debug guidance to our CM partners and ensure proper training and documentation of test FA/CA processes
- Work with vendors to ensure equipment designs are as per specifications and proper acceptance testing and commissioning are executed
- Implement, and debug new test platforms and evaluate test coverage with the broader internal engineering team and CM partners to ensure high yields and lower cycle times on the test lines
- Support CM partners on facilities requirements, installation, validation, and training for new test systems
- Perform periodic monitoring of test data for statistical trends to detect component, manufacturing and measurement system changes occurring through their lifecycles
- Drive towards better integrated test solutions and software code reuse
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Systems engineering or related field
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Test Engineering
- Strong in the fundamentals of Electrical Engineering
- Proficient with process integration of electromechanical systems
- Able to review, understand, and debug PCBA and system level schematics
- Experienced user of electronic test equipment such as DMMs, Power Supplies, RF test equipment and signal acquisition devices
- Familiar with communication protocols such as CAN, UART, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, etc.
- Ability to consolidate test requirements
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience programming in Python (preferred) or C++
- Comfortable working in a Linux based environment for development and application deployment
- Experience building factory test stations for validating embedded devices
- Experience transitioning products from prototype to production in volume manufacturing
- Hands-on experience building and/or troubleshooting test fixtures/setups for mechanical and electronic products
- Experience with power electronics
- Experience programming in Python (preferred) or C++
- Comfortable working in a Linux based environment for development and application deployment
- Experience building factory test stations for validating embedded devices
- Experience transitioning products from prototype to production in volume manufacturing
- Hands-on experience building and/or troubleshooting test fixtures/setups for mechanical and electronic products
- Experience with power electronics
