Job Description
Position Purpose:
In the role of Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will assist the Maintenance Manager in supervising all daily maintenance activities for the project site to ensure operational standards. Support the Maintenance Manager in addressing maintenance challenges, providing hands-on assistance and contributing to quick, effective solutions. Help relay site goals, procedures, and updates to team members, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the site. Flexibly manage various responsibilities, stepping in to handle tasks as needed, and adapting to the changing needs of the site. Assist in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, working closely with the Maintenance Manager to implement process improvements. Oversee the corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment. Ensure the timely, accurate and cost effective delivery of maintenance services including: planned system overhauls, renewal, replacement, and on-demand corrective repair services. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by supporting members, helping to resolve any issues, and promoting teamwork.
- Safety: Foster a safety-driven culture across the site, ensuring all employees have proper training, resources, and PPE. Maintain compliance with OSHA, State, and Veolia Safety and Environmental programs.
- Compliance: Oversee maintenance activities to comply with the environmental and safety regulations for the site.
- Reliability: Monitor project delivery performance, maintaining high standards of quality and consistent results. Focus on preventive and predictive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
- People Focused: Promote a positive work culture, manage resources effectively, and communicate business initiatives and goals to team members. Evaluate and mentor the team to drive performance and growth.
- Customer Obsessed: Build and maintain strong customer relationships, addressing escalated issues promptly. Contribute to new business opportunities and work towards improving Net Promoter Scores.
- Cost Effective: Optimize maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and extend the lifespan of our equipment. Establishes maintenance schedules and ensures that machines, equipment, tooling and other accessories are properly maintained and in top working condition to maximize overall effectiveness. Ability to work with vendors to reduce cost and recommend cost-effective solutions for improving plant efficiency and reducing operational costs.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assigns personnel to shifts and plans daily schedules to provide preventative and predictive maintenance, repairs and installation of equipment, instrumentation and controls. Coordinates schedule to ensure that maintenance resources are being utilized to achieve project objectives.
- Prepares work orders either manually or from a CMMS system as required and prepares work related reports, procurement requisitions, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensures that consistent maintenance and quality assurance procedures are followed in all assigned areas and shifts. Ensures that uniform recordkeeping is performed facility-wide.
- Proactively manages safety and environmental issues and ensures compliance with Federal and State standards including Hazardous Waste Disposal and Air Quality Standards. Ensures that issues are identified, addressed, and elevated if necessary, in a timely manner as the required policies.
- Works with operations leadership to recommend and maintain an up-to-date plan of action to be taken in event of emergencies such as machine, equipment or power failure, or need to release dammed water to affect flood control. Execute and supervise the plan if necessary.
- Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration, ensuring that communication flows smoothly across all team members to ensure team alignment and site goals are met.
- Supports the Site/Project Leader in managing team performance, helping to identify areas for improvement and offering coaching as needed.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to assist in liaising with the Deputy or Site Leader, staff, and vendors.
- Assists the Site/Project Leader in promoting a safety-first culture and conducting regular safety checks or audits.
- Must be able to serve as a point of contact for 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site.
- Assists the Site/Project Leader in mentoring junior team members, providing guidance and support for skill development and performance improvement.
- Demonstrates a desire to grow into a future leadership role, with a focus on developing both maintenance and leadership skills.

- Contributes to the overall site safety performance metrics, including incident rates and near-misses, to drive improvement.
- Assist and conduct risk assessments for maintenance tasks.
- Implementing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for hazardous energy control.
- Compliance Oversight:
- Proactively manages safety and environmental issues and ensures compliance with Federal and State standards including Hazardous Waste Disposal and Air Quality Standards and maintenance contract requirements.
- Ensure adherence to established environmental, health, safety, operating, maintenance, and emergency response procedures.
- Enforce compliance with OSHA, EPA, local water authority regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain records of equipment inspections, maintenance logs, and work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Operational Reliability:
- Monitor project maintenance performance.
- Maintain high standards of quality and consistent results.
- Coordinate problem resolution and manage conflicting priorities.
- Ensure proper maintenance of SCADA systems, control panels, and instrumentation used in water and wastewater treatment.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures, breakdowns, and emergency maintenance issues.

Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred but not required.
- 3 years of experience in maintenance within the water and wastewater industry, 2 of which in a supervisory or lead maintenance role.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Operational Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of unit processes applicable to water and/or wastewater treatment facilities.
- Knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, blowers, compressors, and SCADA systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Systems Expertise:
- Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Preferred knowledge of a) Electrical systems relevant to water/wastewater facilities b) Mechanical systems used in treatment plants c) Instrumentation and control systems for process monitoring and automation.
- Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in general computer applications, including: a) Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) b) Data entry and management systems c) SCADA systems (desirable) d) Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) e) knowledge of google software platform.
- Familiarity with water quality testing and analysis techniques.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for equipment and processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Ability to work in high-pressure, emergency response situations.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Must be able to obtain certifications as required. Confined Space Entry Certification and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Training and other site specific training and certification as required.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Additional Information
Pay Range: $115000 to $135000 per year.
