Position: Product Owner - Doc AI
Salary: $110K - $130K/yr d.o.e.
Location: Remote OK - If living within 31 miles of Tustin, CA or Austin, TX will need to be able to work a hybrid schedule
Position Summary:
Are you passionate about transforming complex document processes into streamlined, intelligent workflows using cutting-edge AI? As the Product Owner for Document AI, you will be instrumental in leveraging advanced machine learning to automate the extraction, understanding, and processing of critical financial documents, including loan documents, invoices, and servicing LOI documents. You will drive the implementation of Google's Document AI platform, building custom automation and intuitive "stare and compare" UI solutions to deliver significant efficiencies for our Servicing, Accounting & Finance, and Sales & Operations teams at New American Funding.
Responsibilities
Execute the product vision for our Document AI solutions. Translate strategic objectives into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and a prioritized product backlog focused on intelligent document processing and automation.
Lead the effort to train, validate, and continuously improve Document AI models for various document types, including loan documents, invoices, and servicing LOI documents, ensuring high accuracy and reliability.
Design and implement end-to-end automation workflows that integrate Document AI capabilities with existing systems, minimizing manual intervention and accelerating document processing across key departments.
Oversee the creation of custom "stare and compare" user interfaces, enabling efficient human-in-the-loop validation and exception handling for document extraction results.
Drive the development and deployment of tailored Document AI solutions for critical business units such as Servicing, Accounting & Finance, and Sales & Operations, ensuring they meet specific departmental needs and deliver measurable value.
Act as the subject matter expert for Google's Document AI platform, identifying optimal features and configurations to maximize performance and efficiency.
Partner closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and data scientists to gather requirements, ensure alignment, and manage expectations for successful product delivery and adoption.
Champion agile principles and oversee the full product development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, value-driven increments in a fast-paced environment.
Utilize performance metrics, model accuracy reports, and user feedback to inform decisions, prioritize features, and continuously improve Document AI solutions.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner, with a strong focus on Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), Document AI, or similar automation solutions.
Direct experience or strong familiarity with Google's Document AI platform is a definite plus.
Experience with financial documents (e.g., loan documents, invoices, contracts) and a strong understanding of processes within Servicing, Accounting & Finance, or Sales & Operations.
1+ years of experience with AI/ML technologies, particularly in areas related to natural language processing, computer vision, and data extraction from unstructured documents.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and experience working with engineering teams on technical product builds.
Experience or strong understanding of designing user interfaces for data validation and comparison (e.g., "stare and compare" screens) is highly desirable.
3+ years of experience driving complex product initiatives within a large enterprise environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proficient in using data to analyze model performance, identify areas for improvement, and measure the business impact of automation solutions.
Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable and effective working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
Work Authorization: Must be able to verify identity and employment eligibility to work in the U.S.
