Position Summary:
The Convenience Retail / Marketing Coordinator oversees the performance and business strategy implementation of convenience retail product categories, across Pricing, Promotions, Product Placement and Product Assortment. This role is specific to the Timewise network of stores in New Mexico. This position ensures consistent brand representation, drives promotional effectiveness, and supports the delivery of superior customer experience. The role operates in a highly cross-functional environment, and its effectiveness depends on strong collaboration across operations, product suppliers and others.
Responsibilities:
Category Plan Execution
- Execute category plans aligned with company goals.
- Analyze and inform to central category management and marketing teams about market trends, customer preferences, and competitive activity.
- Identify growth opportunities to optimize business results and deliver business targets
Performance Analysis
- Monitor sales, margins, inventory levels, and promotional effectiveness.
- Use data (e.g., company systems and data resources, loyalty, syndicated data like Nielsen or IRI) to evaluate category performance.
- Track KPIs such as sales, margin, out-of-stock/shelf rates, and SKU productivity.
Vendor & Supplier Management
- Execute company negotiated supply agreements and terms.
- Negotiate pricing, promotions, and terms with suppliers where locally necessary.
- Collaborate on joint business plans and marketing initiatives with key suppliers.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure supply chain reliability and merchandising execution.
Merchandising & Store Execution
- Support development and monitor local execution of planograms and macro space plans to maximize visibility and sales.
- Coordinate with operations and field teams to ensure proper tracking of merchandising, planograms, and promotional execution.
- Support central teams in optimizing space allocation based on performance and shopper behavior.
- Monitor customer feedback and suggest improvements to retail offerings.
Promotions & Marketing
- Plan and execute promotional calendars and seasonal campaigns.
- Align with marketing teams on in-store signage, digital offers, and loyalty programs.
- Ensure timely deployment of point-of-sale materials, signage, and promotional assets.
- Evaluate ROI of promotions and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for promotional product delivery and setup.
- Monitor compliance with brand standards and promotional guidelines.
- Provide feedback and insights from the field to improve future campaigns.
- Train site staff on new promotions, product launches, and marketing tools.
Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- 3–5+ years in retail category management, merchandising, or buying—ideally within convenience, grocery, or FMCG.
- Experience with vendor negotiations, planogram development, and promotional planning.
- Familiarity with retail analytics tools (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, PDI, or internal POS systems).
- Familiarity with fuel retail industry trends and consumer behavior.
Skills And Knowledge:
- Ability to interpret sales data, shopper insights, and inventory metrics.
- Negotiation & communication: Strong interpersonal skills for working with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Capable of managing timelines, promotions, and category resets.
- Excel, Power BI, category management software, digital signage platforms and merchandising platforms.
- Understanding of retail merchandising principles, space planning, and assortment optimization.
- Familiarity with convenience retail dynamics, including high-turnover SKUs, seasonal trends, and impulse buying behavior.
- Awareness of regulatory considerations (e.g., tobacco, alcohol, age-restricted items).
