We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Financial Controller . This position reports to Director of Human Resources and will work in Vancouver, BC.

Vancouver:

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Financial Controller on the Vancouver team, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, financial budgeting, and internal control functions of the Company. This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all financial information in accordance with GAAP/IFRS, internal accounting policies, and tax and regulatory requirements. The Financial Controller partners closely with all Functions and Corporate Leadership to drive financial performance, cost efficiency, and governance. This role provides leadership and coaching to the Finance Team.

General Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements for internal and external reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, Tax and Other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain full ownership of the general ledger, ensuring integrity and accuracy of balances.
  • Prepare management reports, variance analyses, and KPI dashboards to support decision-making.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate processing of hourly and salaried payroll (union and non-union), ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and remittance deadlines.
  • Oversee the External Audit, review and analyze results and recommend approval of the Audited Financial Statements.
  • Responsible for the Accounts Payable function, driving process streamlining and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee the Cash Management function, including banking relationships.
  • Ensure the organization is following all internal policies and relevant regulations and ensure filings are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Develop and oversee the Internal Review function to ensure that finance and operations controls and policies are complied with in the provincial and field offices. Ensure effective follow up processes are in place.
  • Manage the financial system, ensuing maximum productivity and that it meets the needs of the business today and in the future.
  • Oversee the continuous development and improvement of Accounting and Financial policies and procedures including development of the team with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output.
  • Manage the organization’s Insurance and Risk Management program.
  • Oversee the insurance renewal process; ensure appropriate coverage is maintained.
  • Ensure appropriate legal review of contracts and solicit external legal advice as required.
  • Manage ongoing banking relationships.
  • Develop cash flow forecasting and maintain a long-term cash forecast.
  • Lead the annual business plan development and budgeting process and rolling forecasts in coordination with department owners.
  • Lead financial modeling and analysis to support the development of long-term strategic initiatives and business plans.
  • Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to business partners.
  • Develop Finance and Accounting team goals that are aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and support, set professional development plans to assist employees to reach their full potential.
  • Ensure the team delivers the highest standard of departmental, cross departmental and cross foundation teamwork and customer service.
  • Complete additional job duties and assignments as required.

Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have acquired the following qualifications and experiences:

  • CPA designation.
  • 10 years progressive accounting and finance experience with at least 6 years supervisory experience, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory management

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint; and the ability to learn other applications quickly.
  • Proficiency with Financial and ERP systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
