What You’Ll Do

  • The role involves designing and implementing technology solutions that enable SaskEnergy to achieve its digital transformation goals. This includes the development and optimization of SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation, creating and maintaining reporting and SQL scripts, and providing insights into changing reporting needs and requirements.
  • Business Intelligence Analysts at SaskEnergy apply their expertise in Power BI, Power Query, DAX, and other business intelligence reporting environments to deliver tailored content and effective presentations. They work closely with the Business Units to guide them through the solutioning process and into final delivery, ensuring that the solutions meet the business needs of the organization. The skills required for the Business Intelligence Analyst role are broad and encompass technical disciplines such as cloud expertise in Power BI Service, Microsoft Azure, and Databricks, as well as knowledge of Lakehouse architecture and Delta format. Strong logical and problem-solving skills are essential to address data-related challenges and derive meaningful insights from complex datasets.
  • Business Intelligence Analysts are engaged in enterprise design and development, overseeing the reporting integration and visualization of data from legacy and on-premises systems to new solutions. Additionally, the role requires commitment to operational excellence in delivering customer-focused experiences, adherence to industry security standards, and compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

What You'Ll Need

  • Candidate must have minimum 10 years experience, within the last 15 years in working with modern data management principles, in a Business Intelligence Analyst or similar role.
  • Candidate must have a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science / Engineering, Data Sciences or a related discipline, or minimum 10 years related work experience.
  • Expert level communication (ability to communicate and present effectively, create effective tailored content).
  • Experience working closely with the stakeholders to guide them from start to finish through the solutioning process and into final delivery.
  • Experience designing and implementing technology solutions that enable an organization to achieve its digital transformation goals.
  • Experience with data architectural methodologies application.
  • Experience in identify potential technical risks and devise strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the success of projects.
  • Canadian federal, provincial, municipal government or similar work experience.
  • SQL Expertise: Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.
  • SQL Expertise: Create and maintain reporting and SQL scripts.
  • Power BI and Business Intelligence Tools: Extensive experience with Power BI and other Business Intelligence reporting environments. Strong knowledge of Power Query and DAX within the Power BI environment.
  • Cloud expertise: Power BI Service.
  • Cloud Expertise: Microsoft Azure, and Databricks.
  • Lakehouse architecture and Delta format knowledge.
  • Providing insight into the changing reporting needs and requirements for the company and offer suggestions for technical solutions.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze complex datasets and derive meaningful insights
  • Problem solving: Strong logical and problem solving skills to address data related challenge.
  • Oversee the reporting integration and visualization of data from legacy and on-premises systems to new solutions.
  • Content management and Data management programs and governance experience.
  • STAR scheme and analytical data models knowledge.
  • Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
  • Industry Security Standards.
