Job Description

Telemundo Houston is shaping the next generation of digital storytellers. We’re looking for a Multiplatform News Content Creator who is social-first, audience-driven, and fluent in how Gen Z and Millennials discover news.

This is not a traditional producer role, and it’s not a traditional reporter role. It’s a hybrid journalist-creator position: someone who can report and present stories, shoot and edit vertical video, and craft content that travels seamlessly across broadcast, streaming, social, and mobile platforms.

If you thrive in fast-paced environments, love experimenting with new formats, and want to help reinvent the future of local journalism… you belong here.

Join Telemundo Houston and help redefine what Spanish-language news looks like for the next generation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop original stories from pitch to publication and collaborate in the production of multiplatform content for our newsroom.
  • Shoot, edit, produce, and publish native content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, FAST Channels and OTT platforms.
  • Deliver compelling, authentic on and off camera content across vertical and horizontal formats.
  • Write scripts, headlines, captions, web articles, and app push alerts optimized for younger audiences.
  • Think out of the box to produce quick-turn explainers, live updates, field hits, digital segments, and social-first stories.
  • Collaborate on and off camera to produce livestreams with vMix in breaking news, severe weather coverage, and special events.
  • Collaborate closely with newsroom producers, reporters, photographers, and digital leadership to elevate storytelling and brand voice.
  • Identify trends, audience conversations, and local stories that resonate with Gen Z and Millennials.
  • Use analytics and insights to inform creative decisions and help grow digital communities.

Qualifications

Who You Are

  • A creative, curious journalist who thinks platform-first — not TV-first.
  • Comfortable and authentic on camera, not overly traditional or scripted.
  • Passionate about reinventing how Spanish-language news reaches younger audiences.
  • Excited to experiment, innovate, and build the future of local digital storytelling.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • 2+ years creating digital or social journalism content with on-camera experience.
  • Strong editing skills in Adobe Cloud Suite; mobile and professional camera shooting experience.
  • Deep understanding of platforms, trends, and algorithms.
  • Ability to handle fast-turn deadlines and breaking coverage.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and excellent driving record.

Desired Qualifications

  • A portfolio showcasing vertical video, on-camera storytelling, and original digital content.
  • Experience producing viral or high-engagement social content.
  • Understanding of livestreaming software and digital distribution tools (vMix, obs, Later, wordpress or similar).
  • Knowledge of high-engagement content strategies and audience-specific storytelling.
  • Strong connection to Houston culture, communities, and digital conversations.

Additional Requirements

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
