Description
General Summary
The Procurement Manager develops and executes procurement strategies across dry ingredients, product packaging and produce categories to achieve the safety, quality and financial goals of King & Prince Seafood. This is an end-to-end procurement role involved in supply market intelligence activities, strategy development, operational purchasing, and new product development. Provides leadership in cross-functional collaboration with Supply Planning, R&D, QA, Sales, Category Management and Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and executes purchasing plans using MRP planning tools to meet the packaging and ingredient needs of the short-and-long range production plan
- Maintains Supply Chain planning tool master data (MOQ, order lead time, shelf life, safety cover) to ensure accurate outputs
- Maintains proper inventory levels for all items using standard re-order point methodologies
- Eliminates/minimizes packaging and ingredient obsolescence
- Keeps up with current purchasing trends and regulatory policies by taking courses, attending seminars/web casts, networking with other purchasing professionals and reading relevant material
- Coordinates closely with R&D, Category Management, and Sales and Marketing to facilitate the success of product development projects and initiatives
- Maintains a firm knowledge of accepted product quality and workmanship standards as well as purchasing practices and policies
- Through the maintenance of supplier scorecard, communicates results and assist suppliers in addressing root cause of service shortfalls
- Manages purchasing contracts and formalized RFP’s for timely and accurate execution
- Initiates, leads, and participates in projects designed to improve processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality
- B.S./B.A. degree in Supply Chain or business preferred
- 5+ years of experience in packaging and ingredients procurement
- Certified Purchasing Manager certification preferred
- Strong financial, analytical, critical thinking, and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office - Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Exposure to MFGPRO and MRP systems is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to top management, suppliers, and customers
- Strong problem solving skills; define, collect data, analyze, evaluae solutions, act quickly to resolve, monitor results
- Willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time
