About the role
This role will report into Tesco's legal team based in Bengaluru and support Tesco's UK-based Heads of Legal for Litigation and Employment (UK), predominantly in relation to mass action litigation. The role will also support with Litigation work streams including liaising with internal stakeholders and external lawyers / advisors.

You will be responsible for Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence and have these specific risk responsibilities: Mass action litigation: You will work closely with Tesco's UK-based Heads of Legal for Litigation and Employment, and Tesco's external solicitors, producing written work and updates to both teams. This will include: • Preparing and contributing to internal documents, memorandum and email updates. • Reviewing legal submissions and court judgments to identify key factual findings, to inform other areas of the case and case preparation. • Responding to fact-finding queries from external solicitors through internal inquiries and/or document review and reporting back to solicitor team. • Producing written summaries for internal Tesco team and external solicitors in response to ad hoc factual queries. • Supporting the annual document hold notice distribution and the management of document preservation trackers; responding to ad hoc internal queries re same. • Providing regular updates to Heads of Legal for Litigation and Employment and Licensing and Litigation Manager. Wider Litigation support: • Triaging new requests for support from the business, asking questions to gather facts before the Litigation team starts work on an inquiry. • Processing the investigation and resolution of bailiff letters, warrants of control and other low value payment demands (with supervision from the Group Litigation team). • Maintaining awareness and sharing updates with Head of Legal and business stakeholders re legal and retail industry updates, horizon scanning, identifying internal and external concerns and other issues in litigation and retail spaces. • Evolving and simplifying legal processes with the use of technology, automation, process-maps, templates and best-practice guides. • Partnering with Head of Legal - Litigation on ad hoc queries and matters received from various areas of the business and providing support to the wider Group Legal function as required (e.g. matters and disputes relating to technology, procurement, supplier relationships, ESG, IP, investigations, commercial and customer engagement / complaints).
You will need • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage numerous projects / tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. • Law graduate / qualified lawyer with minimum 10 years' experience, preferably at • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to draft simple, clear communications. • Strong legal research and investigation skills with the ability to consider multiple lines of eleading nqulaw iry adocuments, including reading court judgments, as a• The ability to work independently and cross-functionally under pressure. minimum.
