About The Role:

This role combines front-line technical support with hands-on systems administration. The ideal candidate is someone who can confidently resolve day-to-day user issues while also managing and improving the company’s IT infrastructure. This position requires a broad technical skill set, strong communication abilities, and the mindset of a proactive problem solver who can adapt quickly to changing priorities. 

Key Responsibilities

End-User Support:

  • Serve as the first line of contact for all technical issues across the organization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Level 1 issues quickly; troubleshoot Level 2+ cases with complete, accurate documentation, and escalate as appropriate.
  • Maintain clear communication with users throughout the entire support process.
  • Provide on-site technical support at various company locations when needed.
  • Deliver positive, professional customer service to users of all technical backgrounds.

Systems Administration:

  • Assist with managing servers, networks, wireless mesh, workstations, user accounts, databases, and configurations.
  • Support patching, updates, backups, and routine maintenance for systems and infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and help identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
  • Help implement and enforce IT best practices, policies, and security standards.
  • Participate in deployments, upgrades, and technology rollouts.

Case Management & Documentation:

  • Create detailed documentation for all support cases, including actions taken and outcomes.
  • Ensure proper escalation of unresolved or critical cases to the IT Support Manager.
  • Identify and report recurring issues to support long-term solutions.

Projects & Team Collaboration:

  • Assist with IT initiatives such as infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and process optimization.
  • Communicate proactively regarding system changes, outages, and updates.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to troubleshoot issues, share knowledge, and maintain a positive work culture.

General Expectations:

  • Always maintain safety, quality, and professionalism.
  • Adjust priorities quickly when urgent needs arise.
  • Represent the company positively in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Broad range of IT skills with the ability to support diverse user needs.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities across hardware, software, and network environments.
  • Working knowledge of the technology stack used within Franklin Building Supply.
  • Excellent judgment, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong time management skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Comfortable collaborating with team members and contributing to a positive atmosphere.
  • Systems administration experience, including servers, switches, backups, and general infrastructure maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Preferred):

  • 5+ years of experience supporting hardware/software in an enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016+.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Identity Management, and cloud-based services.
  • Solid networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, cabling, etc.).
  • Experience supporting virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Group Policy creation, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Background supporting ERP systems (Epicor/BisTrack experience is a plus).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, MFA, patch management, and access control.
  • Experience documenting processes, creating knowledgebase articles, or improving workflows.
