AECOM Buildings + Places sector is seeking a Structural Engineer for immediate employment for the Kitchener or Mississauga, ON office with opportunities for hybrid work. This position is for a newly created position.

You will be working with our team of senior engineers, EIT's, technologists, BIM/CAD designers and project managers who focus on delivering high quality and challenging structural design projects within the industrial, commercial, institutional, and municipal sectors.

You will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other disciplines such as architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and civil engineers on larger projects.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures in accordance with relevant codes and standards
  • Prepare technical specifications and contribute to project documentation
  • Prepare structural analysis and calculation reports
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure efficient project execution
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and structural assessments to evaluate structure’s conditions and provide conclusions and recommendations
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule expectations with little supervision
  • Provide technical or operational guidance to less experienced engineers, EIT’s and technicians
  • Stay updated on industry codes, regulations, and best practices to ensure high-quality design solutions
  • In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum: 
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule expectations with little supervision
  • Provide technical or operational guidance to less experienced engineers, EIT’s and technicians
  • Stay updated on industry codes, regulations, and best practices to ensure high-quality design solutions
  • In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum: 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering + four (4) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency in structural engineering design and analysis
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or other provinces in good standing
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency essential)
  • Ability to recognize and adhere to established deadlines and schedules is a must
  • Ability to fit into a fast-paced team environment and/or work independently
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented and multi-tasking

Preferred Requirements:

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in any state of USA is an asset
  • 8+ years of Experience in structural design of industrial plants, commercial buildings, government facilities, municipal infrastructures, and transit stations
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software including ETABS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, RISA 3D, and CAD/BIM tools (e.g., Revit and AutoCAD)
  • Strong understanding of current building codes and design standards (e.g., NBC, OBC, CSA S16, CSA A23.1, CSA A23.3, CSA S304, CSA O86, AISC 360, ACI 318, etc.)
  • Secret-level security clearance or eligibility with the Canadian government
