As a Heat Treat Manufacturing Technician – Level 2 or 3 - 2nd shift (2:15-11:45 pm) your role in Commerce, CA will be pivotal in supporting missions critical to national and global security. The Heat Treat Manufacturing Technician position involves setting up, operating, and tending equipment like furnaces to alter the physical and chemical properties of metal and plastic objects. Operators follow precise instructions to ensure materials meet specific quality and durability standards for various industries, including aerospace and automotive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor heating equipment such as furnaces, ovens, quench tanks, and induction machines.
- Load and unload parts into and out of furnaces, often using forklifts, tongs, or hoists, and rack materials to ensure proper heat flow.
- Adjust temperature, time, and atmosphere controls based on blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications to achieve desired properties like hardness, toughness, or stress relief.
- Conduct visual inspections and perform hardness testing on treated materials to verify they meet specifications, using instruments and charts.
- Accurately log production data into MRP/ERP systems, perform routine maintenance and cleaning on equipment, and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow strict safety protocols due to the work environment's exposure to extreme heat, noise, fumes, and moving machinery.
Basic Qualifications For Level 2:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required as well as 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or heat treat environment
- Familiarity with aerospace alloys (Titanium, Nickel, Aluminum, Steel).
- Experience with vacuum/atmosphere furnaces and pyrometry
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documents, and knowledge of production and quality control processes.
- Knowledge of hardness testing and metallurgical principles.
- Ability to lift to 35-50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in hot and loud environments.

- High school diploma or equivalent is required as well as 4 years of experience in a manufacturing or heat treat environment
