APM Technical Support Engineer (Graduate or Foundational Career Role)

Your Opportunity:
Are you ready to launch a high-impact career by diving deep into modern application architecture? Join New Relic, a global leader in Application Performance Management (APM) SaaS, trusted by everyone from innovative startups to Fortune 500 enterprises.

This is a foundational role specifically designed for early-stage professionals and ambitious career changers who possess the core technical aptitude and are looking for a significant challenge and rapid skill development. It's your chance to start building a solid career foundation.

You will join an experienced and supportive team that is dedicated to adding a curious, eager, and enthusiastic individual to their ranks. You will benefit from ongoing support from your Manager to ensure continuous learning and development. This opportunity is about stepping up and gaining the experiences that will prepare you for future growth within New Relic.

What You'Ll Do:

  • Become a Technical Problem Solver: Work closely with our engineering teams to creatively and relentlessly resolve complex technical issues for our global customer base.
  • Support Core Observability: Master the installation, configuration, and data exploration of our core APM products across diverse, cutting-edge environments including microservices, containers, and orchestration platforms.
  • Be the Customer Advocate: Use your technical insight to identify recurring issues, suggest improvements, and ensure customer needs are clearly documented as feature requests or bug reports for our Product Organisation.
  • Deliver Superior Service: Provide expert troubleshooting and software support via email, phone, and social channels, ensuring our customers feel delighted, even when they are facing a challenge.
  • Grow Your Expertise: Continuously advance your technical skills through dedicated training and exposure to new application features and emerging observability standards like OpenTelemetry.

This Role Requires:

We are prioritising raw potential and curiosity over extensive tenure. This role is not suited for senior or highly tenured professionals. We welcome candidates from non-traditional backgrounds who are ready to learn and grow quickly.

  • A genuine passion for delighting customers and maintaining a positive approach, even during high-pressure situations.
  • Proven experience (including internships, academic projects, or bootcamps) in delivering superior end-user software support.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities—you enjoy taking things apart to understand how they work.
  • A foundational understanding of web technologies.
  • Competence with one or more key development frameworks: Java, .Net, PHP, Ruby, Python, or Node.
  • A profound hunger for knowledge and intense curiosity about new software technology and application behaviour.
  • An infectiously positive attitude and the ability to focus on possibilities rather than obstacles.
  • Hybrid Working in Dublin: The role offers a hybrid working model, and we actively encourage attendance at our recently opened Dublin offices, particularly in the early stages where learning through collaboration and observation with the team will be strongest.

Bonus Points:

While not essential, these skills or experiences will help you hit the ground running:

  • Certifications in relevant application development technologies.
  • Prior experience in a DevOps, Software Engineering, or Technical Support role.
  • A background in Network, System, or Database Administration.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Comfort in analysing and interpreting application logs.
  • Knowledge of OpenTelemetry and other open source observability frameworks.

Fostering a diverse, welcoming and inclusive environment is important to us. We work hard to make everyone feel comfortable bringing their best, most authentic selves to work every day. We celebrate our talented Relics’ different backgrounds and abilities, and recognize the different paths they took to reach us – including nontraditional ones. Their experiences and perspectives inspire us to make our products and company the best they can be. We’re looking for people who feel connected to our mission and values, not just candidates who check off all the boxes.

If you require a reasonable accommodation to complete any part of the application or recruiting process, please reach out to resume@newrelic.com.

We believe in empowering all Relics to achieve professional and business success through a flexible workforce model. This model allows us to work in a variety of workplaces that best support our success, including fully office-based, fully remote, or hybrid.
