Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead and inspire our software engineering team(s) in delivering innovative solutions within the car wash industry. In this strategic role, you will oversee the development and execution of our product roadmap, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software that meets customer needs and drives business objectives. Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture, guiding technical discussions, and mentoring team members to achieve their full potential. Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Manage moderate to large team of 6 to 15 software engineers and product people; potentially multiple smaller teams.
- Run necessary Scrum ceremonies within managed teams including daily stand ups, backlog grooming, and tactical planning as well as leveraging supporting tools.
- Gather and report key performance metrics to leadership.
- Contribute to quarterly and annual planning of goals and initiatives with product, peers, and senior management.
- Maintain a smart, kind and driven culture based on teamwork and trust where team members are empowered and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership that is psychologically safe and focused on continuous improvement.
- Work senior management to influence team architecture and technical direction to ensure success of goals and initiatives.
- Responsible for working with product to bring product knowledge and known customer's needs to team.
- Represent the team in cross-functional leadership meetings actively managing stakeholder needs.
- Executes initiative and sprint goals, works to resolve blockers, escalates potential issues to leadership, owns delivery pipelines and quality metrics of team.
- Share context with team, peers, and leadership to ensure organizational clarity.
- Drives performance of team in delivering on short-term goals while balancing long-term impact.
- Conducts regular 1:1's, supports individual accountability and growth, and reviews team member performance regularly.
- Drive performance management, coaching and career progression.
- Partner with Technical Leadership to help develop senior talent.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of direct experience leading teams.
- 7+ years of industry experience in either an engineering, product management, or leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of software engineers and product team members to achieve individual and team goals.
- Strong coaching and delegation capabilities.
- Confident in giving and receiving difficult feedback.
- Understands the needs of the business and able to navigate impact and tradeoffs.
- Active listening skills and empathetic.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems, tasks and projects and ability to think abstractly.
- Detail-oriented.
- If you are tasked to drive as a part of this role, then it is required that you have a clean driving record and a current Driver's License that is not suspended or expired.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
