The Plant Director in a cable manufacturing company is responsible for overseeing the entire plant’s operations, ensuring efficient production of high-quality cables while maintaining safety, cost control, and compliance with industry regulations. This role involves leading production teams, optimizing processes, and ensuring timely delivery of products.

Operations Management

  • Oversee all plant operations, including production, quality control, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure production targets are met while maintaining product quality.

People Management

  • Lead and supervise plant staff, including production supervisors, technicians, and operators.
  • Conduct training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge of cable manufacturing processes.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Manage workforce planning, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.

Process Optimization

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to optimize production.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement.

Maintenance and Equipment Management

  • Oversee maintenance programs to ensure machinery operates efficiently.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
  • Plan for equipment upgrades and capital investments as needed.

Safety And Compliance

  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Stakeholder & Customer Communication

  • Work closely with senior management on production planning and business strategy.
  • Coordinate with sales, supply chain, and logistics teams to align production with customer demand.
  • Address customer concerns related to product quality, delivery timelines, and technical support.

Budgeting & Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage plant budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Analyze production costs, material consumption, and labor efficiency to identify savings opportunities.
  • Approve capital expenditures for new equipment, technology upgrades, and process improvements.

Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in MBA is a plus.
  • 8-15 years of experience in cable manufacturing, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of cable production processes (extrusion, stranding, insulation, sheathing, testing).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process optimization methods.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of electrical and fiber optic cable industry standards and regulations
  • Possess leadership, good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Has initiative and drive, with a strong sense of ownership in getting things done
