Job Description

As the Supplier Quality Manager – China, you will play a pivotal role in driving supplier performance and continuous improvement across our regional procurement and manufacturing network. You will be responsible for strengthening supplier quality systems, enhancing product reliability, and fostering sustainable and efficient partnerships within the China supply base — contributing directly to the MEA/EAP regional objectives.

Reporting to the Senior Supplier Quality Manager - MEA/EAP, this position requires a proactive professional with strong analytical, technical, and leadership skills to establish, implement, and continuously improve Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) and Supplier Quality Development (SQD) processes across China-based suppliers in order to ensure quality and timely supplies.

This position requires a fully remote work setup.

Due to the location of Doka’s main suppliers, we will consider applicants from the following regions/ areas: Qingdao/ Weifang, Chuzhou City, Rizhao, Yancheng.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement Supplier QA/QC systems aligned with the EAP procurement and quality strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with Strategic Procurement to prioritize supplier development by product category, driving improvements in quality, cost competitiveness, delivery reliability, and sustainability.
  • Evaluate new and existing suppliers in China to ensure compliance with product, cost, quality, capacity, and process requirements, as well as customer and internal system standards.
  • Act as a key quality interface for procurement decisions, supporting supplier selection, qualification, and long-term sourcing strategies.
  • Support commercial sourcing decisions with data-driven insights on supplier performance, capability, and risk assessment.
  • Approve supplier products that meet Doka’s quality and performance requirements.
  • Introduce and promote Lean methodologies, supplier scorecards, and structured audit systems to drive compliance, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report supplier performance through key metrics, scorecards, and risk dashboards, providing actionable input to the Procurement and Category teams.
  • Track and review production status, delivery schedules, and open orders at supplier sites to ensure timely fulfilment and early detection of potential issues.
  • Assess supplier capacity on a periodic basis and communicate any limitations or risks to relevant internal stakeholders to support proactive decision-making.
  • Issue timely alerts on potential supply chain bottlenecks or capacity constraints, supporting early intervention and mitigation planning.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to align on technical requirements, manage supplier–engineering interfaces, and support design changes, capacity expansions, and new product introductions.
  • Deliver measurable results in supplier yield, defect rates, corrective/preventive action closure, and overall supplier engagement.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to suppliers to improve manufacturing processes, cost efficiency, and product quality.
  • Lead investigations into major supplier issues or quality failures, ensuring timely containment, root cause analysis, and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Support new product launches by ensuring supplier readiness and process capability at each milestone.
  • Define process parameters and quality criteria jointly with engineering teams to ensure supplier process capability and robustness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, supporting their development to meet Doka’s technical and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical education.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in supplier quality management, supplier development, or manufacturing quality, preferably in the construction materials, steel fabrication, or industrial components sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), 8D, and control plan methodologies.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes and standards, material grades, testing and certification requirements, and welding standards (e.g. EN, ISO, AS 1554).
  • Preferably experienced in structural steel or metal fabrication processes.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written); proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is essential for supplier communication.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
  • Proven problem-solving capability and ability to manage multiple projects with tight timelines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within China and occasionally across the MEA/EAP region.
