Asset Manager

We are seeking an experienced Asset Manager to provide senior technical leadership and drive asset performance across the Downer’s Northern Assets portfolio.

In this key technical leadership position, you will oversee asset performance, condition, risk and lifecycle optimisation, providing evidence‑based engineering advice to support strategic decision‑making.
You will lead condition assessment programs, guide lifecycle and risk‑reduction strategies, and act as Downer’s technical authority.

This role combines engineering depth, strategic thinking and the ability to translate data and condition insights into clear, defensible recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop asset strategies and prioritise lifecycle decisions using condition, performance, risk and criticality insights.
• Oversee inspections and technical investigations while maintaining asset condition profiles and risk registers.
• Provide engineering authority, manage technical documentation, and lead investigations and specialist technical interfaces.
• Define shutdown technical scope and ensure engineering readiness and effectiveness of shutdown outcomes.
• Analyse reliability data to identify optimisation opportunities and improve maintenance strategies.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and mentor technical staff to uphold disciplined engineering practice.

What You’Ll Bring

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years of asset management experience in complex infrastructure—tunnels highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of Maximo or similar, asset hierarchies, PMs and work order systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, inspection programs and shutdown readiness.
• Ability to interpret standards, conduct investigations and provide evidence‑based recommendations.
• Calm, credible decision‑making with a focus on risk, safety and long‑term asset performance.
